Default Navigation Commands

I was wondering if anyone has a list of the voice commands for the navigation system.

I remember their was a thread that discussed the commands. However, I searched and could not find it. If anyone remembers, please post a link.

Need some help!!!!!!

THANKS!

I copied these from a previous thread, so I don't vouch for their complete accuracy. You can cut&paste to a word processor, print out, and try them in your car.

Good luck, Bob

I think TedG was the one that discovered this but push the talk button and say "command" from there you can see a list of some of the commands for the Nav along with some other info.

Same here and I live in an even more populated area. Inputing addresses has never worked for me but then again, I think the whole system sucks. The screen is flooded with an insane number of icons that, on their own, make no sense. I need to take a few days out of my life and study the ridiculously long nav manual. I've been in a million rental cars where nav was so easy - within 1 or 2 minutes I had the whole thing mastered and it just worked.

Ooops, jumping off topic a bit.

Yep and when you read the list there is on called CD Changer. I can't wait to use that one. Come on GM get me a changer.

I must agree with you and what is worse for me is that I can not seem to turn off the POI no matter what I do.

Going down the interstate and the thing want me to get a burger or some damm thing! Very poor unit considering what is available.

It is broken down into different areas, about 6 or 7 of them for the US. It will only recognize addresses of the are you have selected. You probably have a different area selected than where you are.

You probably need to change your region and turn the POI off.

To turn the POI icons off, simply press the talk button and say "P. O. I. Off."

To change your region, you'll need to go into the navigation setup. I don't have my manual with me or the Corvette, but if you click the onscreen menu button, there should be a "configuration" button. In that menu should be a region field and you can select the region you're in. If you can't figure this out, when I get home I'll play with the nav and post step-by-step directions.

I had that problem as well when I first got my Corvette and it took me a while to figure it out -- you'll also notice that it doesn't recognise any nearby towns either.

This is a copy of a PM I sent to robh1, just in case it helps anyone else having problems with too many icons in the nav or not being able to select destinations close to home.

See if these work for you to get your nav "back on track", so to speak.

1. Press the "voice" button at the top of the navigation system -- it's the top most button on the left side -- and very clearly say, "P. O. I. Off." You should hear the navigation system reply with "POI off."

That should turn off all those bothersome icons cluttering the screen.

2. Getting your system to the correct region is a little more complicated -- but this is why you can't enter any local street addresses or destinations.

Press the Nav button to get to the nav system, and press the "I agree" button at the bottom of the legal disclaimer. Now, press the menu button displayed at the bottom left of the navigation screen.

Now, this is completely non-intuitive, you'd expect this setting to be under Navigation Setup, but you'll need to pick "Enter Destination". On this screen, you'll see a bunch of different soft buttons, but the one you need is in the upper left corner and says "Region".

When you select Region, you'll be presented with a map of the United States that's divided into 10 regions, and 10 buttons on the left side listing the different selectable regions. Again, non-intuitively, the map isn't touch sensitive. You'll have to select your region from the left-hand button choices. I don't know what region you're in, so I can't tell you which one exactly to press, but it should be obvious. Once you select the region, it should highlight on the map. Once it's highlighted, you can press the back button in the upper right corner and input a destination or back out completely to the map screen.

You'll only need to do this once, so long as you stay inside your region. If you need a destination in another region, then you'll have to go back to this screen and select it -- and you'll also have to change it back when you return home.

All of this is covered on page 5-6 in your navigation owner's manual. A run down of button presses follows:

Navigation hard button
"I agree" soft button
Menu soft button
Enter Destination soft button
Region soft button
Search area region button
Back button

Let me know if this helped.
