On Board Diagnostics - scanner?
I have a `96 Monte Carlo, apparently has OBD II. Just got a "service engine" light for the very first time in 95,000 miles. (This has been an excellent car since the day I got it in 1996, zero problems.)
Since I do not know or trust any local mechanics, I guess I better get my hands on an OBD II scanner so I can see what's eating this car. Yes, the fuel cap is tight, etc.
My question here, as it relates to the C6... what type of on board diagnostic system does the C6 have? Is it also OBD II, or? Since I am about to buy a scanner, I figure, IF possible, I may as well get one that can read the C6 codes too.
Can someone recommend a good scanner that is not overly expensive that can read the C6 codes, and also read my `96 Monte Carlo codes?
Thanks.

The standard OBD11 will not work on the C6. Both Actron and Autoray have or will have unit with CAN protocol shortly. They should be contacted directly. Some units can be upgraded at nominal costs, so says the manufactors.
