You're going to wait so long for someone to take the supplier pricing that there will be no more yellow available. Find a forum dealer with the model you want and pay the price or find something you don't really want at GMS and spend the next five years regretting your decision. I had GMS in hand but no one would take it and wanted Mag Red so went to Kerbeck, got 2K off list and no additional BS add ons, got the extended warranty at an excellent price and have never regretted the whole transaction.
Congratulations To Both Of You, Unfortunatly I Am One Of Those People That Can Just Barely Afford A New Vette. I Could Get A 2004, But Who Wants Another C5 After Seeing And Driving The New "bad Boy". If I Was More Comfortable Like Both Of You, I Would Not Hesitate To Spend The Money Immediatly. The Gms Will Put The Payment Where I Need It To Be. I Guess Until Then, I Will Just Watch All Your Beautiful Rides Go By. Have They Decided Not To Make Velocity Yellow?
There are dealers who are takeing the GMID but you have to order the unit you want yes it takes 8 to 12 weeks. but you have been searching for about 2 weeks if you ordered you will get the GMID price and have what you want.

gms is special general motors employee pricing, gmid is special pricing for friends of gm employees, aka (general motors in driveway). from what i understand, it is comp. to gm supplier pricing.
If I were a dealer, there would be no way I would give that much off MSRP. Its not hard to sell vettes at MSRP. Most of us only got a thousand or two off list and we felt lucky just to get the car we wanted.

Uh oh...now you're gonna bring out the "well, maybe you can't afford one and shouldn't buy one crowd" Don't sweat it; find what you're comfortable with and go for it; I did an ended up w/ a new C5; oh the pain, the torture! *sarcasm* Yeah, it's a real b**ch drivin that around!
Call around the Detroit area, hell, a few weeks ago I did some searching for a friend and I found two Vettes that were eligible for the 1K rebate for having been sitting on a dealer lot for over 120 days; my friend found one. (Before anyone says anything, they were not odd cars, nicely equipped.)
Don't worry, I have a feeling that the way the economy is going, dealers will begin to accept GMS on anything they have; especially if sales do not pick up like they hope when spring hits.
Forgot to mention, you probably will NEVER receive GMS from a forum dealer. They have a pretty good captive audience.
The Yellow and Mag Red cars are selling out fast and getting more money than the other colors right now. I had money down over the phone on my Credit Card on a Yellow Convertible last Saturday at a Discount. On Tuesday they called me back and said they could not do the deal, BTW today they sold the Convetible to someone else for $ 3000 more than they were selling it to me. Moral of the Story, if you can buy the Corvette you want at a price you think is fair, Run don't walk and pick up the car before something has a chance to happen. What happened to me is wrong but Sh*T happens
Bongos, WHITEC5VETTE is right ... you CAN find a dealer willing to take GMS on an existing car on their lot ... BUT, you need to look at the WINTER STATES - Detroit area is best but also try WISCONSIN ... I did a lot of looking and emailing and found a car in WISC that they would take GMS on ... and I also found TWO in the DETROIT area ... so three dealers with cars that had what I wanted for GMS. It is WORTH the ~$6500 discount to do the homework.
I just bought my mag red with GMS. It is my understanding that the dealer still gets credit for selling the car for MSRP. You have to keep a Corvette or GTO for two years if you purchase under this program. If you breach the contrct the dealer is liable for the discount.
I might be wrong on this but I think the dealer is still getting paid!
