The very instant that your dealer enters your order into GM's Order Management System an order number is assigned (6 digits).
REMEMBER, the order number is for an order request. The request never becomes an actual order until your dealer has an allocation and then only if the order request does not contain any items that are constrained (unless the dealer receives a constrained item within his allocation).
