Default Spare Key (FOB)

I just ran a search and did not find an answer so here goes a silly question.

How do you carry a "spare key" to a C6, or are you just out of luck if your keys are lost / stolen and you don't have another FOB in your pocket?

Is there a way to get into the car without the FOB?

Is there a way to start the car without the FOB?

Thanks,

Bud Gordon

Use the key in the keyhole above the rear license plate. Press the button nearby to open the hatch. Pull the tab on the left side in back to unlock & open the door. Cannot start the car without a fob.

You can get into the car with the key by using the key to open the rear hatch and then pull the release cable to open the drivers door. You can not start the car without the FOB.

Thanks for the quick replies! Sounds like a huge opening for an aftermarket gismo.

They give you an emergency key with each fob, that works as described above.
What would your gizmo do?

Someone is supposedly working on a watch with a fob enclosed. Don't yet know all the functions that would be in the watch-fob.

Unless you have a dead battery. And unfortunetly, this car has more than its fair share of them.

I think hiding a key is my solution. It doesn't start with a key so I'm not to worried about it. If someone is going to break into it, there going to do it anyway. I just dont like carrying this key around that I hope I never have to use.

Someone talked about stashing an extra fob without the battery in the car. If you stick the dead fob in the slot in the glove compartment you can start the car.

Stash the key outside, carry it with you or call ON Star.

Start the car without a FOB, so when you got her unlocked, you can drive home. Maybe a microswitch somewhere? You wouldn't think it would be hard to engineer.
