Will adding Dynatech headers affect factory warranty?
I am looking at putting a set of dynatech headers and B&B exhaust on my C6. Will this affect anything on the engine warranty? I don't want to find out after the fact.
Thanks.....
I attended a car show at the Dynatech headquarters today and they convinced me that it would make a great addition to the LS2.
Only if they can PROVE your mods caused the problem. Some dealers will try blame everything on your mods to try get out of covering the vehicle under warranty.

I have been there and your post is flat wrong. Possesion is 9/10ths of the law and to deny your warranty a dealership need only say the words. They have to prove nothing. You can spout Moss Mag act till the cows come home and it means nothing. Once you have been denied your choices are to come out of pocket or stay broken If you decide to fight it then you must follow the process through (varies by state and you will probably have several options) which could be many months. The fact is most likely you wont have a problem but there is the possibility that you might. Any time you make mods of this sort you should be prepared for the possibility that you may have to be your own warranty station. I post this every time someone says this because folks widely believe that the Moss Mag act protects them up front. It does not.
Well then let me clarify...in my case, they denied warranty intially but when asked to prove how an air intake can cause a faulty battery they backed off and covered it. Later when speaking with the service manager I was told that they actually give that response to any modded cars in for warranty work, but usually end up doing the work if the mods are not related to the problem. It really depends on the dealer and your relationship with them.
So...in my case I am not "flat wrong". I think your dealer were jerks if they denied you warranty work however I dont know the specifics of your claim. Every claim and dealer's response may be different. Probably the best advise would be to approach your dealer and give them a hyperthetical situation as far as mods and see what their response is. You can always try going to a different dealer if you are turned down by one.
The only if they prove thing is just not correct. You pushed the issue and they let it slide. Good work, but my point stands. If they decide to deny your just plain SOL until you go through the process. There are as you said many factor involved when it comes to mods. Is it a place where you have bought cars and been bringing your service? Do you enjoy a good relationship with the service writers or manager? Are you talking about a power seat that stopped working and your mod is an exhaust? Im sure you can think of many others. I have mods on my car and more coming and I am not loosing sleep over a possible warranty denial. I am however aware that it can and does happen.
I dont quite understand your first sentence but I think we are on the same page. It boils down to the dealer and your relationship with them. To answer the original posters question I still say they cannot deny your warranty unless the mod created the problem. But as you pointed out they may make you jump thru hoops to get the work done. I also agree with you and am not losing sleep over it.
