Default Window Indexing Question

My first car with window indexing. Pretty cool feature, but how much do you think it will reduce the life span of the power window motor?

I think it is more than that, but I have no emperical data to prove it.

Extensive GM testing shows that it will index properly 2 to 4 times a day for 36 mos or 36,000 miles, which ever comes first....

All seriousness, it would seem that an on/off then on/off again on the motor would do more than a continous load to get the window down.

Like a light bulb?

Fair question. On my C5 I had a motor die twice. Interestingly, both times it was the passenger side, which didn't get much use

Well now I don't feel so bad, because increased wear is the first thing I thought of......same thing with the seat moving all the way back on egress.

Obviously it shortens the life of the components, no one knows how much as not enough time has passed (god, I hope not enough time has passed!). I park in the garage and so leave the windows down and even when parking outside on nice days, I never put them all the way up so mine don't do the indexing routine very often.

Default Windows stopped indexing in the up positon

The window indexing feature stopped working after only 500 miles on my C6. The windows (passenger & driver side) will index down when you open the respective door but they now refuse to index back up when you close the door. Anybody else have or had this problem or am I over looking something simple? As I recall they worked fine when I first got the car. I guess I will be visiting my Chev dealer soon to have this looked at.

As I recall, hold the button up for a few seconds after the window is fully up, and then down for a few...

Well, that puts a dent in the 0.00000000000000000001% statistic.

IF YOU HAVE A BATTERY PROBLEM...LIKE NOT PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE.... YOU HAVE TO RESET THE WINDOW INDEX..IT TELLS YOU IN THE OWNERS MANUAL WHAT TO DO.......MIKE
