Pretty minor though. Cleaned the engine compartment this morning and the hood wouldn't latch on the driver's side when I tried to close it. Nothing happens on that side when I pull the release lever
...not enough info. Did it latch on the passenger side? If so, you may just have the latch/hood torked a little, causing the problem. I haven't had this happen on my new vert, but have experience the problem in the past on other vettes I've owned. Sometime if you get someone to apply a little pressure on the latched-side (pushing-down on the hood), while you or someone else is releasing the hood-latch inside the car, it'll release the hood. Just be gentle with it, but give it a try....maybe it'll free up the latch--releasing the hood.
Thanks for the respnse. Yes - it does latch on the other side. Actually, I had it the wrong way round. It does latch on the driver's side, but not on the passenger side. The problem is not with releasing it, but getting it to latch shut.
Did you press firmly on the hood on that side directly over the latch to push it down?
Sounds like a dumb question but sometimes you have to give it just a bit of oomph. C5's were the same. The hood doesn't weight that much so if you don't get it just right it doesn't always latch on both sides and you have to push one side down.
hum...try playing with the problematic latch (hood open)...see if its binding/hanging up or seems loose/not responding to the latch-release operations. I guess the linkage to the latch could of broke or somehow became disconnected. Let us know what you find out once fixed.

If the passenger side isn't latching, the most likely cause is the passenger side latch is being held open by the release cable. This happens when there is resistance in the release cable or in the latch itself, and the latch spring has insufficient force to fully return the cable and latch to the fully closed position. The cable and/or the latch mechanism may need lubrication.
The other possibility is that the latch simply needs adjustment. Either problem would not be unusual in a new car.

I think this is what it is. The cables are connected OK at both ends, but it did look like the passenger side was in the open position. I wrestled with it and it looks like I freed it up enough for the hood to (finally) latch closed. I'll have the dealer check it out when I take it for an oil change - possibly later this week or early next.
The latch on the drivers side of mine was set a little too low which caused some of the alignment issues I posted about a few months ago. It would also keep the hood from latching on both sides unless I really let it drop hard. I adjusted the latches myself and now I do not have a problem closing the hood. It also corrected some of the alignment problem that I had.
