Default C6 engine noise

I just sold my C5 vette and got a new C6.
My question is: when first started my engine has a clatter like the noise of a diesel. It does get a little better when warm but under light acceleration you can still hear it.
My C5 was quite when first started and all the time. Is this the way the new LS2 egine sounds?? I only have 700 miles on the car.
I will check back and see if anyone answers before taking it in to have it checked out.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

This doesn't sound right at all. I've had both and think the C6 is quieter if anything.

How does it pull under load versus light accleration? It may be a bad wire or spark plug ... heavy load/acceleration will hide it but light load/idle it can be spotted ... but definitely get it checked out.

I heard a ticking noise in mine for the first 2000 miles. Reminded me of the good ol days of having to adjust valves. It concerned me as well but then as I put miles on it, it either went away or I just got used to it. I think it is part of the break in. I really don't hear it at all now. My car runs great! I did a very easy break in for the first 1500 miles.

Just wanted you to know that I heard it too.

Doesn't sound right to me either. I've had both a 6-spd and an auto and neither of them made that kind of noise.

No unusual engine noise for me at startup. What you describe does not sound normal.

Thanks I guess a better describtion would be it sounds like fuel injectors opening and closing. It just started around 100 miles ago and was quite when I got the car.
Was yours louder when cold at start up and then when warm quieted down?

Heard the same sound on start-up for the first 600 mi or so. Sound evaporated once I got to about 1000 mi.
All is well-Good Luck!

Yea, my C6 has it's own sound, but not that. The engine itself has a definite "throaty" sound, but no clatter... Get it checked out.

Good luck.
