Hi guys and gals,
I am new here and I thought I would introduce myself. I am a car guy. I grew up inthe LI of the 60's. GTO's vettes chevelles 442 427 Novas Baldwin Motion camaro's. My first car was a 63 bonneville with the 389 and a carter 4barrel and dual exhausts. Then the first of a long series of gas crisis hit. Instead of the 67 442 convertible I was going to buy( I think it was 3600 used) I got an opel manta(still GM) gas was 48 cents for hi test( adjsuted to todays inflation that was 2.50) on a students income not a good thing. I stayed with German cheapo sports cars for a few A v 6 capri then a pre GTI rabbit( golf) an opel GT( hey it looked like a vette in miniture) Eventually an 87 turbo supra. I looked at a 93 vett but I got a 93 TT supra and that has been my ride for the last 13 years eventually modifying that to about 460 crank hp. I sold that and am sports car less for a while. I am going to return to the fold with a C6 convertable 6 speed Z51 probably by the end of the summer. I drove the c4 and that did not do it for me nor did the C5. the speed was there but I could not get past the vibrations and build issues compared to other cars I have driven( no don't get mad I think the vaunted Porsches have issues as well) I got to drive a friends c6 coupe and was smitten. Okay that is my storey and I will be hanging here and hopefully learning some good stuff. oh here is a picture of my old ride
thanks it was sad to see it go down the driveway when I sold her. Boy did it hold its value though I got over 50% of the purchase price on sale after 12 years.
