Default Gun Rack?

Anyone have any idea where I could put a gun rack for my 12 guage, just in case I run into a bunch of wild turkeys? Hate to miss that kind of opportunity.I was thinking maybe hangin from the crossbar?

Just get a patrol car mount up by the dash and a tin of chew for the glove box.

Yeah, use the one my son has on his CJ-7, it mounts on the passenger side right next to the Shifter/bell housing. It holds and 11/87 nicely. The angle might be a little tricky though (always is) !

Wild turkey, eh... That reminds me of a story...

When I was in college a "few" years ago, one of my fellow students had a nice recent model Camaro (I guess I could try to tie this in by saying it was a Corvette, but it wasn't). It was among the better cars owned by students at this particular college. I saw him on campus one day and it dawned on me that I had not seen his car recently, so I asked him about it. Until I heard his reply, I had the perception that college admission standards set some minimal threshhold for intelligence. Clearly, I was mistaken. His tale was more or less as follows.

"I had spent the weekend at home, and I was coming back to school. It was about 10:30 at night, so it was dark; and there was no other traffic on the road coming back into town." (It was a dark and lonely night...)

"As I was driving along, I noticed a wild turkey on the side of the road." (Presumably the bird kind as opposed to the potable kind...)

"Growing up in the country, I did a lot of hunting -- deer, squirrel, rabbit, ducks ... whatever. But one thing I never killed was a wild turkey. This particular wild turkey was standing on the side of the road frozen in the glare of my headlights."

OK. If you've stuck with me so far you can see this coming. He decided to commit vehicular homicide on the person of this turkey. We can only speculate as to what he would have considered a successful outcome -- turkey features and guts in the grill of his car? Most would agree that it was an error in judgement to use an automobile as a hunting weapon, but he made yet another error in judgment. Blinded by blood lust, he failed to adequately assess the quality of the shoulder of the road as a driving surface. As luck would have it, it wasn't very good. It was soft and muddy. As if this wasn't bad enough, it was also narrow. Just beyond the shoulder the road bed dropped steeply about 10 feet into a drainage ditch. This drainage ditch was where his car came to rest.

OK. I know you are wondering the same thing that I was at this point..."Did he get the turkey?"

It turns out that the car was so badly damaged that he wasn't really sure. All he knew was that by the time he recovered his wits (such as they were) after the wreck, the turkey was gone.

While I can't say much for his judgement, and while this incident led me to doubt the veracity of the college's reputation for high standards for admissions, I did admire his honesty.

I consider myself an honest person, but if I had wrecked my car while by myself on a lonely country road while attempting to use my car to kill part of the local fauna, I'm not sure I would admit all this to my friends. And can you imagine the insurance report?

It had to be the potable kind. Wild turkeys roost at night.

I have this in my TransAM (C6 is on order). There are a couple options but ultimately you should consider converting to a collapsible stock and mount in the rear. Also, consider a electronic lock with hidden button for release.

How about mounting it on the inside like the police do. Quick release and all.

I don't know about a 12 gauge. I carry an AK47 for my turkey shoots.

Yep. I've never seen a wild turkey at night myself (the bird kind), and this guy may have taken some Wild Turkey (liquid kind) internally from time to time. I did see the car, though. It was quite a mess.

After the OP gets his gun rack, we'll be looking for a picture of his car with a deer tied across the hood.

That's one of the things that I liked about the C6 plenty of hood to lay a deer across.

Congrats to everyone that took part!!!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to figure out how I'm going to mount a bazooka in my car.

purchase the z06 hood, open the scoop a tad more, mount bazooka across the top of the engine, add a "back blast" tube to redirect the fire away from the cabin.

A glock doesn't take up much room. Besides, hunting season on LA freeways opens soon. Does armor plating affect performance much?

Default Wild Turkey

That wild turkey story is about the funniest thing I've heard in weeks! I can't remember the last time I truly did laugh out loud while reading a computer post!

My new Heckler and Koch USP Compact fits nicely in the glove compartment. Haven't figured out where to put the 12 guage yet.
