Anyone else have a problem with the NAV system constantly announcing that you should continue on the current road?
I've noticed that on a nearby Interstate (I-295), if I am NAV'ing to someplace where I have to drive along it, nearly every exit I am prompted at 2 miles and right beforehand to "Continue on I-295 North." I really don't see a lot of point in telling me to continue going straight. I could see it where a road splits, but then the message is usually "Bear right on to..." or "Bear left on to..."
I wouldn't mind it so much if I didn't listen to audiobooks or other spoken word content a lot in the car; the interuption always happens at a bad time.
It only seems to strongly affect one 20 or so mile stretch of the Interstate from what I've seen, so I suspect it may be an issue with the map data. I was just curious if anyone else is seeing this behavior.
The Only thing i notice on mine is The Resturants GAs and BAnks are not where they are supposed to be There always off by alot..i Can be at one place the streets are correct but the icon of the resturant is off...is there a fix?
The chatter can get annoying but I think you can turn it off. There are a few times where you really have to pay attention. She tells you to turn as you approach a street, but it is the next street where you are supposed to turn. It pays to watch the street names and they come up. I agree the 'bear right' is totally unnecessary on an interstate when all you're doing is going around a curve.
But even with those problems, I'm satisfied with the NAV and glad I got it.
My first experience with NAV was in a rented a car with 'Never Lost' and it had us making a left turn the wrong way on a one-way street.
I enter the address in my preset destinations and then I can bring it up while rolling when I get close. I have also turned off voice. The hud information and map are more than adaquate for me.

So far mine hasn't behaved like that. It will, as you say, tell me to bear left or right when there's a "branch" in the road, but normally wont say anything until I'm a mile or so from my next turn. I'm a little unclear on your post, are you saying that you're driving on a road *next to* the I-295 or driving *on* the I-295. If it's next to the I-295 then maybe you just need to go to the calibration menu and give the unit a little position tweaking.
I have the same issue. When on the interstate it tells me before almost every exit to stay on the current road, then on backroads that split it tells me nothing. Wish there was a general level of guidance you could set, detail, minor or only major changes. Or an easy button to turn on and off voice guidance.

LOL..Same problem- It starts talking to me at random times.. But now I am talking backto it- we have a good conversation....

Use the voice command "Voice guidence off" or "Voice guidance on" to toggle voice commands while in guidance mode.

This hasn't been to bad for me, other than a few gas stations that appear in residential neighborhood, likely because the owner uses his personal address rather than the business address in whatever database they pull Business info out of... This isn't only on the Denso system either. I suspect that owner may end up updating the info once he realizes that people are coming to his house by mistake.

I tracked down where to send navigation errors. The map database is maintained by TeleAtlas. They can be reached at: support.na@teleatlas.com .

I'm driving *on* I-295, and the system has me right where I am (I've been very impressed with the systems ability to put me on the right road even with many parallel roads). For a certain set of exits, it'll constantly announce that I should continue, but beyond a certain point, I either don't get the announcement or I get it very infrequently.
I know I can turn off the voice; I like the voice. I just want it to tell me about turns, not that I'm doing a good job following it's directions.
At least you didn't purchase it and find out that the city you live in doesn't even exist on the DVD...this stinks! Anyone know who you go about making a recommendation to DENSO, or whomever does the DVD, about adding a city? Not that they'll listen but I'll feel better

It is amazing what the system does when I try and use voice commands. What it interprets and what I say often aren't even close. That is a technology that isn't really there yet, but I try this command and see what amazing pops up. Probably will show Italian restauants.

Wow, does this really work? There are several errors in my subdivision and city, and I'd like to tell somebody that can do something about it what they need to fix.

I find myself having to hit the NAV button just to get reassurance that I'm still on track . . .
I'm waiting for the next update that'll allow us to "pre-program" certain commands.....such as "Where's a Kilian's"? or "Shut the hell up"! I just turned the voice off.
