Default paddle shifter

it is not a manual trans "paddle shifter" it is a push button auto transmisssion and the only difference between the 50s chrysler setup is the corvette has it on the steering wheel and the chrysler was on the dash

A true paddle "shifter" is one that is mated to a clutchless manual or "F1" transmission like the Ferrari 360 or Lamborghini Gallardo "E-gear". It seems like the paddles in question are nothing more than an automatic gear shifter moved from the center console.

I think you are mostly right. The 50s-60s dash push-buttons were for all gears; the steering wheel gizmo shown for the Corvette is apparently only for slurping up and down in "forward".

Since GM has not announced anything (and by the way NO forum dealers have said for sure) about just what the new A6 was going to be for fact...so far its speculation...I'm not saying that its , but right now opinions are like a**holes...EVERYBODY'S got one!

Let's wait 'til it comes out, and someone actually drives one before we trash it.

Everything old is new again. My friends 1959 Dodge push buttons would fall in and not come back out. But we really loved that speedometer bar that would change colors at 60 to red. Always gave us a reason to speed down the boulevard!!!! I love America. Always getting better!
