Buy the quickconnect from TEAMBIKER for 12 bucks ... here is a link

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...38&forum_id=74

You may wish to consider also the mirror mount from great lakes - be aware some folks have had trouble getting it to stay stuck to the back of the mirror ...

The wiring from team biker is a must, you should look at the visor bracket mount instead of the mirror mount. I used the mirror mount in my c5 but prefer the location and security of the visor bracket mount.

I planned on using the mirror connecter, but I also have the concealed display. The concealed displays does not work for me if I plug in the V1 to the mirror and the concealed display to the lighter adapter. I routed the cord to the passenger side and down the pillar and need a wire to attached the direct power adapter to. I have looked under the dash behind the passenger kick panel and see lots of wires and a fuse box, but don't know what wire to tap into. Anybody now of a schematic diagram showing the wiring in that area.

I had a local radio shop do the install for me. The V-1 is hung under the passenger side using the Great Lakes visor mount. It works great. They did the remote display and it is mounted on the under side of the dash just under the start switch. It's handy and I can push the button on the display without having to move.

There is a highly detailed thread with great pictures installing a v1 and remote display. The connection is at the fuse box. you run one wire up the a pillar to feed to v1 and one wire behind the stereo to get to the remote near the steering wheel. I used the thread and it worked great for me. Unfortunately I suck at searching for threads or I would include it here. It was done by FASTNRU. I you can't find it, PM me and I will spend some time trying to track it down. It really was a grreat set of instructions and pics

I would also like to see this thread. I've searched the FAQ, and Forum Search seems to be permanently broken.

Lookup Beezeye. He has the V1 with the Great Lakes mount and some wiring harness that links to the mirror. Sorry I didn't get pics of that at the Orlando Meet.

If you have the 1SB mirror, you need the middle pink wire (hot when engine on) and black (ground). I used teamspeed's Quick-Connect cord and the Great Lakes Trophies mirror mount (which has so far survived the Florida sun).

mine is a bel RX65, but you can wire your V1 same as me...got a direct wire cord W/O SMATPLUG from escort...hacked off fuse holder soldered on gold connector pins from Fry's and put heat shrink tubing around the joint, just to look spiffy and then I took small zip-ties and plugged in the neg in the black terminal and pos into the middle pink terminal of the harness and zip-tied the detector wires to their counterparts coming out of the harness.

i chose zip-ties, because they hold tight, and won't wiggle free. make sure that the thing ends up being about 8 inches long ( )

P.S. could've bought the setup, but I enjoy making my own rigs to get things to work....call it Southern Igenuity!

I ran the wire into the passenger floor and tied into the power wire for the light under there.

Default A little different install...

I went with a little different approach. I have a Bel RX65.

Outside view:

Inside view (it's level, my picture isn't):

I made a little bracket in the garage - with a piece of scrap sheet steel and a visor bracket. I bent the sides so it would slide over the OnStar antenna:

Here's the bracket in place before the radar detector is slid in. I painted it with black crinkle paint.

You'll notice a little angle on the slide for the radar detector. A cop told me once that it should not be mounted straight ahead, but a little to the left - that way it would get both what's in front of me, and what's coming the other way on a split highway like an interstate.

I don't care for wiring directly into the mirror as I think it could cause future problems. I got the extension wire kit and an "Add a Fuse" kit from Auto Zone. Ran the wire under the windshield trim, down the side, under the dash, and over to the fuse box under the passenger floorboard. I used the cruise control fuse location, since it is switched with the ignition.

And finally pushed the extra wire over the top of the fuse, just laying it in there:

I like this install because I can take it completely out at any time, and I can remove the radar detector or bracket in seconds if I want. I can still put the passenger visor all the way down. I don't care for the mount below the mirror because I don't want my vision split in the middle any more than it already is. The OnStar Antenna can easily hold the weight (I haven't had any problems so far) and it doesn't interfere with OnStar working properly.

This was pretty easy, other than fabricating the bracket - but that was just back and forth making measurements and bending it right.

Gregg.

I used teambiker's $12 wire and it was a 30 second install. I paid a local stereo place $45 to hard wire my C5. Teambiker's solution is the easiest I have ever seen.

I have the install from teambiker also, on my C6, and also a Lexus SUV. Neat, easy, clearcut install that works great.
