Default NAV Help!

This NAV is confusing to say the least!

Is there a way to switch from preset FM channel to preset FM channel without having to switch back to the radio screen?

In other words, if I am in the NAV screens and I want to switch to another of my preset FM channels, can I do so without having to go to the radio screen?

If I try and scan, it simply switches to the next radio station it can receive.

Also, what is the quickest/easiest way to set up a trip on your NAV begining where you are now, to a point you want to drive to?

Will DVD movies play in the NAV?

Any other NAV tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

DVD movies will not play. One of the largest booboo's in the interface is that you cannot scan or go to the next preset with the rocker while on nav. I find the easiest way to enter a location is by phone number.

DVD movies will not play in the Nav. The quickest way to enter a destination is by entering the phone number of the destination. As far as changing screens to change radio stations, since the essential Nav information appears in the HUD, there's no reason to leave the Nav screen up after you enter a destination, which you can only do when you're stopped anyway.

Ya gotta admit, they screwed up when they didnt make it so you could set the rocker to scan the presets or advance to the next preset as well as seek. Since they have a touchscreen to work with and lots of empty real estate this could have been done and it makes it much more useful. On my wifes car you can set the rocker to do this plus to go to the next station in the genre if your on sirius.

I think I remember from reading the manual or something, if you hold down the rocker switch for 3 seconds it goes to the next pre-set. Of course by that time you've had at least 1 accident. Bad design, Should be the other way around, press and goes to next pre-set; hold to go to next station.
Also buttons on stearing wheel !!!

It never ceases to amaze me that people actually want, and expect, the NAV system to play DVDs...

Why? Assuming that the system would allow you to do so, as long as the car was NOT moving..., why do you want to watch a movie on that tiny little screen?

You cannot scan the presets with the rocker. The only way is to press and hold for 2 seconds the scan soft button on screen. Like I said this is IMO the worst mistake they made with the interface.

I may have misread the question, but if I am on a nav screen (with no route or destination-just the map screen) I can move stations with the rocker switch without holding it down for any longer than an instant. I will have to try with a destination or route programmed.

Is it true NAV locations can be entered and located by entering telephone numbers?

according to manual if the phone number is in the system relating to POI.

I haven't tried it though.

Yep, if the phone number is in the data base then you can use it to set a nav guidance point. Pushing the rocker while on nav with the source set to radio will cause it to seek, not scan the presets or go to the next preset.
