I just heard from an insider that the 2007 base C6 model is slated to have a 7 speed SMG manual transmisson. It is in the design engineering stage at this point.
I heard from a very well-placed source that the 2008 C6 is going to have an 8 speed selectable true SMG/automatic transmission, but it's going to be replaced in 2009 by a 9 speed.
By 2021 The Vette is slated to have as many speeds as my bicycle.
The flux capacitor that was supposed to show up in '06 got axed because it doesn't conform to European time travel laws. Damn Dave Hill and his "euro" crap.

Conservative Estimates Place...
Great posts, all of them, but somewhat short of the mark. I heard from a very reliable source recently, that antimatter drive will come on-line no later then 2010. When pressed further regarding the timeline, he stated that GM's conservative target estimate is 2008. The major problem to date seems to be in the reliability of the antimatter containment field at high velocities.
Oh..., BTW, the gear box will be rendered effectively irrelevant...

Didn't the Delorean have that some years back???
I seem to remember a clip of Michael J Fox tooling around in one.
