How long does it take? I don't plan on hovering over them, and I've already told them that heads will roll if a dealer sticker gets put on the bumper, so I'm wondering how long to give them. Is there a lot to do? I don't think my ride will want to hang out there half the day if that's what it takes.
My courtesy delivery arrived at the dealer this morning (three days early BTW) and the Sales Manager told me it depends on the Service Department's schedule (which he hadn't checked on), so he said it will be tomorrow for sure, but possibly today. I didn't mention to leave off the dealer sticker cause I wasn't sure how he would take it - didn't want to incur his/the dealership's wrath if he didn't respect my request.

Dude, it's your car! No f-ing sticker! For $50K, you get it your way.
I don't think it will **** off dealer. They are used to that particularly on Corvettes. Mine said they never put one on a Corvette. I even offered to save them money by telling them to keep their license plate holders but they declined. It was in the trash 5 minutes after I got home.
Including a complete detail the dealership should be able to complete the pre-delivery inspection in 2 hours.

Thanks, Ken. I figured it would be take off the plastic, clean it, do state inspection and emissions, and that's about it. Two hours sounds about right.

Generally this is correct (you're never wrong, Ken ).
However, mine had a misaligned hood from the factory, and they took some extra time to get it right. I'd much rather take the time than come back later with a list...

For doing a courtesy delivery, you think this dealer has ANY right to put a sticker on your car? Didn't you have to pay for the courtesy delivery? If he needs the advertising, tell him to buy an ad on a city bus...it'll get more exposure and he can buy as much space as he wants.
I did my prep at my home I told the dealer to leave all plastic on the car it was not a bad job I enjoyed it, then I washed with dawn and put the Zaino on.

Really good points, all true, too!! I am a little hopeful that he doesn't put an ad on my car, but seeing how the car is sooooooooo hot, he won't be able to stop himself from putting one on.
Dealer sticker?? Are yout alking about the dealer advertising license plate? Or are some dealers actually putting a sticker somewhere on the car? Just curious. Mine came with a dealer advertising plate of course. But that was it.

Sticker, plate, badge...it's a small, maybe 1.25" X 4", chrome-plated plastic, foil, metal or other style of badge that has the dealer's name and city on it. Modern versions are self-adhesive and are fairly easily to remove without damage, but years ago, some of these stickers, plates, badges needed small holes drilled in the body panel (typically the rear deck lid or fascia) for installation. I have seen examples of the old ones attached with freakin' pop rivets.
Jayman518, here's what to say if they want to put a dealer badge on your car: Talk to the service manager responsible for the courtesty delivery PDI and say: "If I come down here and find any dealer badge on my car, I am going to be REALLY pizzed off and somebody's going to get an azz whuppin'". He will then understand that you really don't want it.

Many years back I bought a new car from a local dealer, and I made shore (as always) it did not have any dealer advertising on it. Two weeks later brought it back for a couple of minor warranty fixes, and when I got it back saw some junk stuck to the rear fascia+ a license plate sign.
At that time I was kind of a hot head, so I rather briskly wheeled it back to the “new car prep area” slammed on the brakes and proceeded to hold down the horn button. The prep manager came running over and asked” what the hell was going on” Still holding down the horn I proceeded to tell him about what was done to my new car. By this time the general manager came out and joined in the discussion. Bottom line some one noticed I had no dealer ad on and decided to put it on. WRONG MOVE. After about a 100 apologies from the 2 managers, the junk came off. They also told me to go to the gas pump and fill it up. Two days later I got coupons for 2 free oil changes sent from the general manager. ”Noisy wheel gets the grease”

You usually don't see this practice in California (must be the inate car culture), but I've seen it alot in the Midwest and East. I remember Martin Cadillac in L.A. used to put a "by Martin" chromed plastic piece on the trunk of the cars they sold. I remove the paper and the frame before I leave the dealership. They want to advertise? I charge 1k a month for space on my car.
I asked my dealer to do absolutely nothing to my car except put the required state inspection sticker on it. They had no problem with my request - it saved them time and effort. When I got to the dealership, the car was dirty and covered with plastic - just the way I wanted it!
The guys at Lonestar Chevrolet in Houston were great.
Boy, am I anxious. Talked to the Sales Manager about my courtesy delivery and it may not be looking too good. At 11AM, he said it was just put into the Delivery Inspection bay, but that the tech would be going to lunch around 11:30, so he didn't know if the car would be ready today. I guess they must have been swamped yesterday, even tho at 7:30AM, the service area parking lot had two cars in it. But on the bright side, it is pouring out today and is suppose to rain all day tomorrow too, so maybe the longer wait is actually better - but probably I am just kidding myself...even in the rain, this car looks great..and with it having been detailed by the dealer, the rain will just roll off of it. Oh well, the waiting is still he**!!!!!
