C6 Noob
hello all! i purchased my CB C6 this past thursday with 11 miles. i have owned alot of 'sporty' cars, but this is by far THE fastest car i have ever driven, and i havent even gotten on it too much yet (read break in period 500 miles). I am coming from a 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT with some bolt-on mods putting it around 300hp.
initial impressions:
1) Fast
2) Fast
3) Gorgeous
4) Fit and Finish not as nice as my G35. only 235 miles and i already have some strange rattling and chattering in the rear of the car, probably in the exhast somewhere.
5) Interior is comfortable and intuitive...very nice.
6) Fast
7) Did i mention fast?
overall, i am very satisfied with my selection. although, having started lurking on this forum, am i starting to rethink my decision...why?
1) everyone alludes to the bag of suck that is GM service
2) some people are taping on home depot mods to their $50k cars
3) modding the vette will not be nearly as easy or cheap as my G
4) the notion that it "drops like a rock" in value, almost instantly
anyway, i am happy to be a part of the family for now and i hope that the rest of this C6 journey is as cool as the first few days has been.

1. Depends on the dealer.
2. We're talking about screen wire to keep out bugs & small stones.
3. Lots of us don't want/need performance mods. That's the reason I bought a 400-hp car!
4. The higher the purchase price, the more money the car depreciates when you drive it off the lot. I paid $27K for a 2-yr old $36K C4 in 1996. That's a 25% difference, or 12.5% a year. When I sold it 3 years later, I got $17K from a dealer. I lost 37% of what I paid for it, or about 12% a year. I expect prices of C6s to drop a comparable amount.
Bear in mind that the folks who post regularly here really want GM to do better, and there is bound to be more criticism than you'd hear in an open (non-Corvette) forum. That said, check out previous threads on how many 'Vettes we've owned, and you'll see that there are many 'lifers' among us.
No car is perfect for every use, but the C6 comes about as close as you'll get if you love driving hard. And there are literally thousands of mods you can make to personalize the car. Some are cheap, and some aren't, but no other car comes close to the number of suppliers putting out parts. Just look at the back of any general car magazine, and you'll see the 'Vette pictured most often among all makes as the example for available parts.

Thanks for the feedback!
1) any northern VA owners that recommend a good service center?
2) i guess i would have to see pics of how it looks, but it certainly sounds suspect.
3) i am fine with the HP, but things like springs and exhaust are pricey for the minimal gains...i hate to think that i will end up spending $2k just to be able to "hear" my engine, without getting any boost for those bucks.
4) i guess that's not too bad...

Buddy of mine said Pohanka on Rt. 50 went the extra mile for him .. and they have some well-trained tech's .... This guy is very particular so I would take my own thier as well
Congrats and enjoy! Having come from three Lexus GS 4's, I understand your fit and finish comments. I must remind you that if a Japanese auto maker builds a 400 hp car, you can bet it will be a bunch more expensive than the C6.
I recommend Rick over at Mike Pallone in Springfield. Great guy. Tell him Jay Larkin said so!

The C6 has 400hp, so it doesn't have to have body panels that are aligned.
Congratulations! Here's wishing you may miles of smiles in your new C6.
Hey, junkie. Ya gotta fix your hello and congrats thing. It says "may miles" instead of "many miles". Its been that way for a long time. I could get away with it cause Im a fisherman and people are pretty suprised when they find out I can read at all. You on the other hand are a respectable citizen. Oh, and Mayo, hello and congrats.
welcome ... I'm a first time vette owner as well. overall, the car is just a BLAST to drive. I'm ear to ear smiles whenever I drive this machine hard. Yes, I'm experiencing some quality issues, but thus far the overall experience is
I got the mod bug, too. Borla exhaust done, LG headers on order, and hurst shifter on order.

Funny! But hey, I could care less if you can read...just keep bringing me some fresh salmon! And if you know any crabmen, send over some kind crab legs!
