Default Question about interior

I just came back from the dealership because i'm having a problem with the center dash/console(the silver part) squeaking a lot when i go over bumps or when a passenger has his knee resting on it. They told me they have to replace the whole console(silver part) and that they need to replace the radio because when you hit FM preset 5 it plays music for about 1 second and then goes quiet.

When i left the dealership i noticed that to the left of the transmission(6sp) the silver plastic is bulging out, not flat or even with the rest of the side. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? I don't remember if it was like that before or if the dealer did it when they were trying to remove it.

i knew something was up when he said he needed to order a new console to fix the squeaking sound. I know that i'm still going to get that sound when they install the new one. Does your console have the same sound? It happens whenever you push on the silver part of the console on the sides, sort of where your knees would be.

Thanks for the quick reply violet.

i guess i could go "push" on it and see... but the short answer is I'm five feet tall. 5'0". i'm lucky i can reach the pedals...don't have to worry about my knees rubbing on anything.

The center console on my new C6 Vert (5/25/05 NCM) squeaks on the right side where the center console meets the dash at the upper part of the glove box. I only have 600 miles on it in the first week and the squeak is annoying and more than a little frustrating. I first noticed the squeak when running over bumps but it also sings out when you run some twisties or power through a curve. Every time you apply power in a curve it squeaks as if the console is flexing and rubbing on other plastic / vinyl parts. The center console does not bulge anywhere like you mentioned ---- but, having pressed on it to locate the source of the squeak, it seems very thin and flexible, almost flimsy.

I was driving the C6 in shorts the other evening and felt a tremendous amount of heat coming through the center console along my right thigh down to the knee. It was very hot to the touch. It was almost as if the darn heater was running thereby heating up the lower section of the console adjacent to the MN 6 speed. The same area on the passenger side was cool to the touch. If this is where the bulge is located, do you feel any heat coming from the area to the left of the MN 6 speed shifter?

I was playing with the bulge trying to push it in but I had just started driving away from the service center so there wasn't enough time for heat build up. I did notice one time after driving a while that the center storage console was warm, i then opened it up and felt the bottom(black fuzzy part) of it and it was hot. I am pretty sure this is normal because the transmission runs right through there but i'm not positive. I am going to the race track tonight and i'll be sure to check and see if there is any heat build up along the left side. If it does get really hot it might be why my pastic is warped(or it could of been the dealer).

I'm talking about the silver plastic piece that is to the left of the MN6 on the side not on top. In my car it bulges next to where the stick is.

I am not all that impressed with the interior on my C6. There are subtle depressions in the dash over the passenger side airbag and over the widshield upright supports. The silver plastic dash piece squeeks only when my knee rests against it. The interior is where the Germans really have the edge over the Vette.

Mine looks like that too. But it is flush with carpet all along the bottom edge so it HAS to bulge there to get around the shifter, etc.
