Default I want opinions...Taller hood scoop for C6??

I own a manufacturing business, currently specializing in custom composites for mid-year corvettes and other cars and am looking at the feasibility of marketing a taller hood scoop for C6's using either fiberglass or carbon fiber.

I'd appreciate feedback on the idea. Is this something there is a market for?

Thanks for sharing your opinions!

The C6 doesn't have a hood scoop, and the available ram air packages breathe through the front grille opening. Because of the air cleaner location, I don't think a hood scoop would be beneficial for a NA car, and there would be no benefit to a larger hood bulge either.

However, a roots blower package will require a taller bulge in the hood, and depending on the geometry of the air cleaner used, could benefit from a scoop opening in the hood too.

Of more interest to me would be a C6R style hood with vents to allow engine compartment heat to escape more readily.

Shopdog - Thanks for your reply. My intent was to raise the center of the hood approx. 1 to 2 in. higher. Where would you recommend louvers to be installed?

Lets face it many put em on for looks. Make it pretty and some folks will buy it for that alone. Good looks and useful (vents, blower clearance) and there will be that much more interest. For someone like me it would have to fit into the look of the car and be useful before I would consider it.

I would buy it in a heartbeat if someone made an L-88 style hood for the C6.

As to the height of the center bulge, talk to the roots blower people. They should be able to tell you how much extra clearance will be required. As for vents, about 2/3 the way back on either side of the central bulge.

Thanks for all the feedback folks, this is helpful. If anyone else reads this thread even a "yes" or "no" answer to the original questions is appreciated.

.....Jeff, invent a great looking hood for the C6 and you'll sell them. You might have to come up with a few different models and shop them around for opinions. Get with a graphics guy and see what you can come up with. Post them here and I'm sure you will get the information your looking for.......Good luck......

Have a look at the Viper SRT hood. I'm not suggesting that you copy the design exactly but, it does have all the elements most people are asking for (scoop at front with heat reduction vents on each side).
