My dealer asked his regional manager to find out what was going on, and the word we got back was that my car had finally been 'released' for shipment, and that there had been some kind of problem with the directional signal.
I know my dealer is embarrased by all this, and I believe he's trying to do the right thing, but I'm very skeptical that a problem with a directional signal could tie up a car for four weeks. During my career I set up factories for computers and other electronics products, it's well known in manufacturing circles that a product that has been reworked for ANY reason is MUCH more likely to be a problem in the field later on.
Also, I understand there was a vicious hailstorm the day after my car was built (about the same time as yours, I think), and have heard on this forum reports that at least some convertibles were damaged, but noone at GM seems to acknowledge any of this.
Assuming my car is really on the way, I haven't yet cancelled, but I've asked for some consideration towards an extended warranty. Don't know if I'll get it, but at the very least I'm going to go over my car with a magnifying glass when it comes in.
Don't know what else to do - but this fiasco has certainly put a damper on the excitement of getting a new C6.
