I'm not sure if it applies directly to anyone here, but on the Rennlist there's a post about PCA banning this wheel in competition events.
That is correct.. PCA, NASA, and now SCCA are banning HRE's.. it has come to light that HRE's cant handle the load that track use puts on them and they are falling apart and causing severe accidents..
I am actually going to drop HRE as i have told many people.. they just ARENT worth the money.
Boy, this is disappointing. My new vert is about to go down the assy line and I had planned on a set of 540Rs. I love the look. Anyone have any suggestions for an alternative?

get em man!!! they are gonna hold up more than fine for regular street use...probably great even.
but if you are gonna track your 6, just get a different set of wheels. seriously, these things malfunctioned on a TRACK under HARD LOAD!!! get them for the great looks, but not for racing.
i would bet though, that you could probably find a pretty good knock off for cheaper...if you were willing to keep a seperate set of track wheels.
one last besides...why would you run 19's at the track anyway...get some 17 or 16 inch rims and DESTROY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
According to Champion Motorsports website, the only modular wheels they offer are the RG5 and RG19. Both of these wheels come (according to the website) in 19" dia. only. I'm told that not maintaining the approx. 1" front/back rolling dia. differential will screw with the active handling algarithms built into the car.
PS - the car will never see the 'race track' . . . perhaps an occasional autocross
I looked long and hard at HRE and other premium rims. The folks at LPE told me to stay away from the HRE Wide Lips - they pick up water and this creates an extra load on the wheel that causes failure I settled on Fikse based on their race experience and the looks. I have their Profil 13 wheels with high polish.
I've got a set of 547R's ordered for my C6 - This is not great news but I won't be using these wheels and tires for the track. If the DOT decides there is a problem with them, then I'll worry (and HRE should worry even more) As far as the water issue I don't drive my C6 in the rain. (it hardly ever rains here anyway). Worst of all is that if I post a pic with the new wheels it'll be a flamefest for all of those who love to **** in a good thread. Thanks for the info, though.

Thats because 17's or 16's wont fit a C6 17's might fit the non Z51 brakes but BARELY.
