So is there really a difference in 0-60 times with an auto trans. vs. a six speed. Is there really that big of an advantage with a stick shift anymore with the new 400 hp coupe vette?????
The manual is slightly faster as I recall from the car magazines, with the Z51 and its gearing multiplying that difference. So a Z51 MN6 is noticeably faster than a stock automatic through a quarter mile.

When drag racing, an automatic transmission eliminates driver error on the launch. It is also known that when drag racing the less gears the better. This is because, whenever you change gears in manual trans, you have to disengage the throttle; therefore, taking away power momentarily. All of the serious "drag only" race cars have 3 speed or even 2 speed transmissions with shifters that let them upshift without coming off of the throttle.

Check actual times when the 3.15 axle is backing up the auto....
Most of us who have a manual didn't buy it for any performance advantage. It's purchased because we enjoy the feel of driving a stick in a high performance sports car. The automatic is more convenient to use and just as fast. Any discussion about the auto versus stick has to end the same way as the base/F55/Z51 suspension debates, which end the same as the "which color is best?" discussions.
If you like the automatic, it's a fine choice. If you prefer the manual, it's the way to go. If there was a third option, that would be good too. You simply can not buy a C6 that doesn't go fast, handle well, and look good....regardless of what you order.

It's too close to worry about..Not a big difference and more times then not I hear the auto are better do to the drivers of sticks not getting the best launch..You can't go wrong with either.
Had 4 Auto Trans My C6 Is A 6 Speed And I Can't Believe I How Much More I Love Driving This Car. Not A Daily Driver. If It Was I Guess That Might Factor In

As a matter of prefernce, I believe that more A4 Corvettes are sold than MN6 Corvettes. However, from the performance perspective it can be argued that the A4 is quicker but, in order to take full advantage of this edge, the car must be machine silver. With any other color it's probably a toss up (it is a known fact that silver coupes are much faster than other Corvettes)
Not sure how you guys are figuring that an auto will do better in the 1/4. stick is listed at 12.5 around 114 and the auto 13.0 at 110. With a good driver a stick will beat the auto every time. Most new vette owners are in their 40s and 50s and are not quite the quick shifter.I'm 31 with a 6spd and have beaten 2 autos on the street by a few car lengths.Reality is that if your not a great driver on the track then you might do better in a auto but if your experienced then the 6spd will always prevail. The problem is the launch on a 6spd.Get some sticky tires and you will really see what its capable of.All the magazines use experienced drivers and thats why you see them posting .4 to .5 differences between the stick and auto.
