I just go the vette a month ago (no pic yet, sorry). I can't stand the sound system. I also hate being with a nav system. Too bad they don't just sell the vette without nav/sound. Anyhow, I've ordered an AVIC-D1 with the iPod dongle and the rear camera. I'm going to make a mess of my poor new vette.
Does anyone have photos/instructions on how to get the old stereo out? The service manuals are backordered and the places I queried didn't really have any instructions. I've only seen photos of completed installs people paid for.
If no one has any tips/tricks, I'll just start tugging on stuff and post notes/photos on what I find.
I had mine done by CarToons in Largo Florida, but the job from what they tell me was remove the center console, unbolt the old unit and the A/C control unit. The trick was all the modules needed to make it work-which is why I farmed the job out.
somebody posted on how to swap the console/dash parts... that will help on getting to the screws that hold in the radio. They told you about the "hidden" screws that hold down the silver console cover.
