Default A/C Problems 2005 C6

I have a 2005 LeMans Blue C6 with ~500 miles on it. I have had the car for a little over 2 weeks now. I am experiencing the infamous A/C problem where hot/moist air is blown out intermittently. According to others dealing with this same problem, it happens on very hot days. This seems to be consistent with my car. Yesterday, it approached 100 degrees here in South Florida. On my way to lunch, the air would blow out hot than cold with the fan speed running somewhat consistently. I had a similar problem with my C5 and the dealer replaced almost every AC component with no favorable outcome. I don't want GM techs to play guinea pig with my car again. Does anyone know of a real fix for this issue. I know the C6 comes with the new Thermal Expansion Valve.

Having the same problem with my LMB. 2000 miles. Here's the latest I have...

Got a reply from a Corvette Service Tech Specialist (GM Dealer Mechanic) on another site. He just replaced 2 A/C Refrigerant pressure sensors on customers 2005 Vettes that were having the same problems. The sensors are replaced in minutes according to his post...problem solved. My dealer is waiting to hear what I find out (wish they were taking a more active role). I have to drive it in immediately when the problem is occuring consistently. In the meantime, I'm going to try to get them to order the part. Trying to get a part number from the Tech guy I'm corresponding with.

Hope this will be the fix. Let me know If you get a solution regarding the A/C.

I would like to get that part number as well. Having the same problem. It helped that the car is tinted. Also order abs of steel with ceramic coating to reduce exhaust heat entering into cabin.

Hey JF...It was a short PM reply mentioning that specific part. The thread had maybe 3 posts including mine. Not many replies to the problem. It has been better documented here. Still trying to get the part number from the Service Tech. I'll make sure I post it if he follows up. I'm also trying to get the part # from my dealer.

When I originally took the car in, the dealer said they couldn't repeat the problem. As soon as I drove it away, it sure as heck repeated. Talked to the Service Manager at the dealership to complain. They had run a diagnostic check on it about an hour before I picked it up (it sat in the shop for about 6 hours). Neglected to do a test drive. All in all it was a useless trip.

I'm anxious to chase the problem down...I'll stay on it.

My Z51 has been in the shop since Tuesday morning. They replaced the thermal expansion valve, and the problem persisted. The next step is to replace the compressor, which will happen tomorrow. I'm interested in hearing more about the A/C refrigerant pressure sensors. My car has no problem exhibiting the problem, and I'm concerned that I will become like jfloresfsu, a guinea pig with every component replaced.

I know how you feel. I'm trying to be patient and wait on an appropriate fix before my dealer starts tearing things apart. My A/C will run strong for a half hour then blow warm. Switching back and forth between auto and manual seems to get it blowing cold again (compressor kicking back on?). My dealer should be spending this much time trying to figure this out.

Just shot another PM to the mechanic who first suggested the A/C refrigerant sensor replacement/fix. Trying to get that part number.

Let us know how you make out.

Hey LS...not sure I understand you're question. I'm grasping at straws here, hoping for a fix. Right now the dealer Service Manager just has a completely confused look on his face...not completely inspiring. Seems like the reponsibility to offer a solution has become mine.

Damn...thanks for the heads up C6. I'll check it out. Hoping it's going to be this simple.

I just checked my radiator and it is free of any foreign objects. I was hoping to find some plastic bags. My A/C problems seem to be getting worse. I find that the condition happens more often when I shut the car off and stop for a few minutes. When I turn the car back on, it takes almost a minute for the compressor to kick back in.
