Default Some help, please ????

I looked at a C6 Sat. with the Z51 and the dealer was stuck on MSRP. I realize these cars are a hot item but I would think at the end of the model year dealers would be coming off sticker to move these cars out. When are the 06 models going to be available? And would it not be to my advantage to wait on the 06 if dealers are going to stay with the sticker price? I am a woman but my husband normally doesn't help me with car buying so I'm on my own here. Any comments would be appreciated.

Where you live will have more to do with this than anything else. Corvettes are still pulling a premium in some areas. It is next to impossible to find one on a lot the way you want it here in san diego right now, I had to order mine and am still waiting.

You should be able to get a little bit off of sticker, but dont expect too much, a lot of the people claiming huge discounts here are full of it and trying to show off.

Pick a price, leave the dealer your phone number and tell them to call you if they can hit the price.

The 06 wouldnt be in your hands until sometime in october at the earliest. Also remember that there is always a 3-5% price bump for the new year, which offsets a lot of the dep.

Thanks, I did think about the certainty of a price increase. Also I live around Houston, so I would imagine these dealers don't care if you buy or not.

Try Auto Trader advanced search you may have to travel a distance f you find the right combination. It will show you several C6's on dealers lots. Some are willing to deal it worked for me. Good luck!!

It really does depend a lot of where you buy it. I got mine for 2K over dealer invoice before a $1K GM rebate. I needed to travel only 25 miles to find this deal. The car dealers in my direct area were asking $5K over MSRP!!!! Shop around!!!

First, this is the time of year when buyers are in a feeding frenzy for a Corvette, so the dealers don't have to deal much to sell them (best time to buy is winter when sales of sports cars are slow). Second, the start of 06 production has been delayed until September 8th this year, so you aren't at the end of the model year as you would be other years.

With that in mind, there are still dealers out there who'll be willing to deal. You have to hunt for them, though. While the big dealers will have cars, they won't necessarily give you a great deal. The best deals are usually found at small dealers in small towns with small allocations. If they have what you want, you're good. If they have an available allocation, you may still be good. If they don't, pass on by to one who does.

Examples, one of the posters today got a great deal from a small Alabama dealer 800 miles from his home. I got a very good deal from a small Kentucky dealer 400 miles from my home, in fact it was the *one* Corvette he was going to get all year. At the time I bought, none of the big dealers were willing to even come close to the price I paid. OTOH, I took the car he had, if I'd wanted something different, he couldn't have helped me. That's where the large dealers have an edge, they have plenty of allocations and plenty of cars. They will either have on the lot, or can get quickly, the exact car you want. But you probably won't get a great deal on it.

First, try some of the Forum dealers, of course.

Second, the price of the car isn't the only consideration. You didn't say if you have a trade-in, what financing you may qualify for, etc. Everything is negotiable. It may be worthwhile to accept a deal at MSRP if you can get compensation elsewhere in the deal.

Ask for help in any or all of several areas: financing rate, trade value, free extended warranty, free mods (such as body-color door handles), free floor mats with logos, etc. Many of these items cost the dealer much less than the value to you, so both sides can win. Be polite, but consistent.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a Chevy salesman and he said they get a lot of "tire kickers" on the C6. There standard answer for pricing is MSRP. He also said if you get a little more serious, they will deal. Best time to buy is end of the month so they can make their sales numbers. If it's been a slow month....better deal. Also, if you have been a customer in the past, it helps.

Unlike one of the posts above, I did get a great deal...170 miles away.

I paid 48k for a 1sb 6spd, coupe (about 3k off MSRP) and 39k trade for my 2004 C5...which was 1k more than I paid for it 11 months ago! Needless to say I got a great deal at 38k out the door for a new '04...but that was right before the C6 was hitting the lot.

I priced 4 dealers in my area against each other, and ultimately found the C6 I wanted North of here and bought it on the 30th of the month. Most local dealers wanted MSRP or better.

Gotta shop around, and do your research...however, it is summer. These are corvette summer days.

If it makes you feel better a friend of mine just bought a Mustang GT...she was seeing prices anywhere from 3k to 7k over MSRP...for a MUSTANG!

They ain't full of it - people who do their homework and don't mind making hundreds of calls and emails do get large discounts. I got 6k off MSRP on mine...I'll show you the email from the dealer with the final price to prove it. Just have to find that one dealer willing to accept your price. If spending a little more doesn't bother you and you want it now vs later just pay it and don't deal with the hassle.

PM me and I can recommend a dealer who will work with you.

Real world. You're not going to get a sizeable amount off MSRP unless the dealer's a member of your immediate family.

Full of what? I got $3500 off MSRP from a forum dealer with museum delivery. Everything worked out perfect and I think it is the only way to go. PM me and I will give you the details.

I live in Southern California where dealers don't deal.
