Default DVD Nav Operation...

1. After the DVD in installed in the radio, does it stay in after you've returned home after your trip till you need it again or do you remove the DVD after each use?
2. How do you turn off the Nav system if you decide not to go to your planned destination say, mid-way there?
Appreciate some help; don't recall seeing this info in the book but I may have missed it...?

Leave it in the drive, otherwise you get an error message every time you start the car.

Select cancel guidance from the route menu.

I agree. I never take the DVD out.

A bit more detail on cancelling guidance...

From the map screen, press the menu button. Then press "route options." From that screen, just touch "cancel guidance" and then "yes" to confirm.

Probably the reason for so much dissatifaction with the 'useability' Four operations just to turn it off! That's what happens when you engineer for the chip instead of the human.

Theoretically, you can cancel from the voice recognition. I say theoretically because I can't get my voice recognition to recognize anything.

It responds to 'FM1' with 'reset home?' and 'yes' with 'displaying gas station icons'.
