Cruising the interstate to work this morning. I have no idea what vehicle kicked it up but I saw it as it hurtled toward the windshield. It looked like a brown golf ball headed right for my face. A meteorite moving too fast for even my Z51 swerving at warp speed to avoid. WACK! It hit the lower left corner of the windshield and created a 3 inch star surrounded by a c shaped crack that will undoubtably spread upward soon. A bud lite to the inventor of safety glass.
I hate to make the insurance call but the first windshield price I got today was...hang on to your seats...$1,900. My salesman is putting me in touch with the company their dealership uses but if American Family is paying...I guess my premiums have been worth it.
I would tell you I'm glad I was not in my '67 but that windshield, correctly dated, was less than $500.
Damn, thats not good, especially around here...you can go through windshields fast with all of the crap on the roads. Let us know how you make out on the revised price list
The boulder into the glass was bad enough - the repair cost is outrageous!! Sorry your beauty was damaged but glad it was not worse. I'm really interested how your insurance situation works out as windshield damage around this neck-of-the-woods is routine...ouch in advance
Sorry to hear that, I also have a windshield problem. Seems something got under my wiper on the drivers side and created a 12 inch scratch. Not real deep but very annoying. Any ideas on how to get it fixed....one nice thing is here in florida there are no deductables on windshield replacement...

Sorry to hear that. In Florida, replacement windshields are done with NO DEDUCTIBLE. I hope that is the case in your state.
Most major carriers don't "ding" you (pardon the pun) for windshield claims such as yours. HUD's require special glass which may attribute to the inflated cost.

when a car or truck has a new designed windshield there is only one supplier because this happen to me with my new 1988 silverado windshield,$1400 back then for a new windshield. once there are enought of that type of windshields on the road other companies will start making them and the cost will come down
Deductible applies here in Calif. C5 HUD windshied was $1900, non-HUD was $1600. Late model F body windshield, which is almost the same size is only $300. Go figure!
