Me and the wife went out Saturday Night and had a great time, except for one thing. After sitting at Applebee's for 3 to 4 hours, we get back into the C6 and fire it up. No radio sound whatsoever, although it did light up and display the station. Also, the gas gauge would go down to empty and then back to half tank in a matter of seconds. It did this several times over a time span of about 30 min., and the speakers would not make a sound. Only when the gauge acted up, the DIC would say "Service fuel system". It was very hot that day, 98 or so, maybe that had something to do with it. Anyway, I turned the radio off and took a little cruise, just to let everything cool off and the gauge did not act up anymore over the course of the night! And, the radio also played fine!?? Has this happened to any of you? Really strange! Thanks.
Don't know about the radio but I think there are other posts.
The fuel gage is a known problem for which there are new parts available. Also a lot of posts on that; search away or scan headings - you'll find it.
Last week I had the opposite: radio sound but no display. Yesterday I had one preset station go dead after I switched to it in about 3 seconds. Both were fixed by turning the car off and on. Very annoying, I agree.
Check the FAQ section...all these problems are listed there.
I had the intermittent radio mute at startup problem since my car was new. The dealer replaced the radio and it's been fine since. There is a known software glitch in the radio, but GM will replace the radio rather than provide a software fix.
I think some of these problems are similar to our home computer. How many times do we re-boot to clear a problem. I am sure restarting the C6 is similar to re-booting. I have read that sometimes owners will disconnect the battery and solve problems.
