Default Losing oil between changes

Seems as though I`m losing about 2 quarts of oil between oil changes, About 3000 miles. No drips on the garage floor, no burning oil smell. No other problems.(Except the airbag light light comes on every now and again). Any Ideas ?

Default Losing oil

We seem to be having the same problem. Twice in higher altitude we get the check oil message. We've taken it back to the dealership and they have ran an oil test but says it's fine. No drips, smoking etc. We've got a Borla Stinger and the tips seem dirtier than some of our friends C5's. It definitely doesn't burn clean. It shouldn't be losing that much oil every 3000 miles no matter what the dealer says.

I just added a quart after the check oil light came on. I drove to a gas station; gave it a little rest and checked it. Oil was hot of course - but still got a good reading.

1quart mobile1 at 2300 miles and all is well. I do have some build-up on the exhaust tips; but nothing substantial.

Also, the brake squeal is gone now. I also wait till the last few seconds to brake in most cases and get stopped early every time. I do the nose dip on some stops; for fun!

You should wait to 5,000 miles and then do an oil consumption test. As per GM, a quart/2000 miles is normal.

I saw your avatar. Why did you back over the dog?

1 quart/2000 miles is normal???? That doesn't seem right. I've been driving GM's for over 30 years and have never had to add oil between oil changes. That includes SUVs to Vettes.
Sounds like GM is just trying to cover its azz.

Depends a lot on how much and how hard you get on it. The more you really get on it, the more oil it burns...

I burned through 3 quarts in 1500 miles. if you are curious you should have your dealer at your next service change the oil and give you a sheet to monitor consumption and come back in 1000 and then 2000 miles. That is what I am currently doing with my dealer.
