I was told my coupe build date was the week of June 27 (no exact date). What date should I expect it in California? Also, do they load up the trucks as soon as they come off the line or do they wait until the end of the week? This my first Vette so I am kind of anxious. Do the truckers work 4th of July weekend?
Once your car comes off the line, it sits out back in the plants holding lot for a "quality hold", which the museum claims is 2 weeks in length. A lot of forum members complain about their car being held up by Allied (the carrier company), but I think it is really a GM thing. And it's probably to our benefit . . . I'd rather have any problems fixed by factory personnel, rather than Mr. Goodwrench.
Your car probably was completed on time. Mine was scheduled for the w/o 6/20 and came off the line on 6/23. I know the anxiety your feeling. I've been waiting for my car since 9/17/04 and I'm heading to BG tomorrow to take museum delivery!!!!
It's quite possible that your car is already on its way to CA. It's also quite possible that it's still sitting in Allied's lot waiting to be assigned to a CA-bound load. My car was completed on 6-24, was assigned and loaded on 6-30, and is well on its way to northern CA since departing BG that same day. Allied is showing an ETA of 7-09 (this coming Saturday) but even with figuring in the 4th I'm thinking it will arrive a day or two before then.
The best thing to do at this point is to call Allied at 1-888-227-4285 and ask them the status of your car. The ladies there are very nice and eager to help. They'll ask you for the last 8 digits of your car's VIN; they'll then check their database and will be able to tell you whether or not your car has been assigned to a load and if so, when it left, where it's stopping along the way, and when it's expected to arrive at your dealer.
As far as weekends and holidays go, it's entirely up to the driver. I was told that most of the time they stay put on Sundays and holidays; some drive on Saturdays while others don't.
BTW, what part of CA are you in? Who's your dealer?
Courtesy in San Jose? If so, it's possible that our cars are on the same truck. The truck that left last Thursday with my Corvette on it is scheduled to stop at Courtesy immediately before delivering mine to Sunnyvale Chevrolet.
Why don't you have a VIN? I seemed to have moved up in the rotation and I don't know why. My TPW is 7/18. I am now 4200 on the list and have a VIN. Could this mean it was built before shutdown? Anybody?
I live in SoCal and ordered from Connell in Costa Mesa. Now that I have a VIN, should I call Allied or wait?

But I do have a VIN - I've had it for several weeks now. What makes you think that I don't have one?
As for your situation, here's what I think happened: As you stated, you were given a TPW of 7-18. That will be the first week of production following the plant shutdown that began at the final bell on Friday, July 1st. Since you're at 4200, your car has clearly been built, invoiced, and shipped; this means that it was likely one of the last cars built before shutdown (in reality, just a few work days earlier than originally estimated). By getting built just a few days early, your car will arrive several weeks sooner. The car was released to Allied before shutdown; you were quite lucky in that it got assigned to a departing load quickly and it's now on its way.
At this point your wait is only a matter of a few days (assuming that your 4200 status is in fact accurate). If you want confirmation, call Allied and give them the last 8 digits of your VIN. You'll probably be in for a pleasant surprise.
Thanks for your words. Actually I am 4150. Not sure what that means either according to shutdown. Could it be built and on a truck? Sorry for the confusion, been travelling quite a bit lately and jetlag you know.

Thanks for your comments.
Oops - my mistake. 4150 means that your car is built and your dealer has been invoiced. The good news is that in all probability, your car has been handed over to Allied for shipment. It's now up to them to assign it to a load and get it out to you. If in fact your car has been handed over to Allied, plant shutdown will not affect delivery of your car. Go ahead and call Allied - there's a good chance that they'll be able to give you updated information.
Mine was built on June 10th, sent to shipper on the 13th and delivered in Las Vegas on June 18th. I'll bet you'll have yours by the end of the week. ENJOY!

Not so. See below.

Mine did have a quality hold of 4 days to fix something. They all get a quality check. If there are no issues, the car is released to Allied right away.
Thanks to all for such information that I never got from my dealer. I called Allied today and found out that my C6 is due in this Friday or Saturday. I lucked out and beat the shutdown somehow. Could be because I cancelled XM and On-Star a couple of weeks ago. I was moved from 3200 to 4150 in a week. Thanks Marvin for the great service you provide. You can now take me off your list. I'll send you a separate message on this.
mpuzach, you were right-on buddy! When do you get yours?

It should be at the dealer in the next day or two. The truck left BG last week Thursday. It goes first to Bakersfield, then Shafter, Watsonville, Milpitas, San Jose, then finally to my dealer in Sunnyvale. Even if they didn't drive at all over the holiday weekend, I've got to believe that they'd hit Sunnyvale by Friday.
Yup - it's going to be a Z51 MN6 weekend (hopefully).
