Default New Shift ****....

Guys,I need a new shift ****....I need one that'll match the new CF interior trim. Don't want too many different materials going into the interior pieces. I have found NOTHING out there that'll fit on the C6 shifter.
I found one similar to the stock, only with real CF on top, at SSinserts.com, but the thing is designed for a threaded shifter...a la C5 or aftermarket, and the C6's is not threaded....it has a set-screw setup.

Anyone find anything out there?

thanks!!

Last year I adapted a C5 round aluminum **** with 6-spd pattern to my C6.Though not very professional, it wasn't really very hard. Put a big 5/8 drill bit in my electric drill, clamped it in a vise, let it run, and carefully hand held the **** and gently bored out the threads until it was big enough to fit over the C6 lever. Then drill a hole from the front where you can't see it and tap it out for a set screw. I swear the shifter feels more precise (probably because I set the **** as low as possible). Looks great too.
If you feel daring, you could try this with the C5 **** of your choice.

You get your CF installed yet? If so, post pictures. Don't forget about the 17th at The Block of Orange.

Are you kidding me? The Blue Monster will be there in full force, with CF gleaming. My Mods, since I last brought my car, are outstanding!!! (last time, I had to drive my 4X4 to the meet.)

I really wanted to get a working shift **** before the 17th....without getting a Hurst. No Hurst, I'm so tapped for money now, it's sick.....Sparky, I wish I had a wife to keep me under control!!!

ZL-1-
That totally sounds like something I'd do!! Hell, it'd give me an excuse to go out and buy a tap and die set!! but I'd like to find something less intense for the time being. I have to do all my car work in direct sunlight, so any intensive interior work is avoided when necessary.
Thanks for the tip....I may end up going that route if'n I don't find a **** by November (Cool month in SoCal)

How do you get the old **** off the C6 lever? I've got a chrome ball **** from my old C5 that I'd like to adapt to my C6.

Momo makes the **** that you want. They do not screw on they use an incert and it locks on very tightly. Top class construction and beautifully crafted.

There's one at baileymotorsports.com that's made for the C6? Sorry, it's obviously not carbon fiber.

Poke around a little bit and you'll find a set screw that you must remove, then the **** slides off

I want a titanium ****, (like Voodoo ****) but the only ones I can find are made to screw on. Thanks for the tip on the Momo. I will check them out.

Pull down the top of the shift boot to expose a Torx head screw (#8?) unscrew it and the **** comes off easily.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I was looking at the Momo, and was leary. The last **** I got, from, SS inserts used a plastic bushing that slid down over the shifter, and then you screwed the **** onto that. It came with 7 bushings, none of which fit.
Was expecting the same out of Momo...anybody have any experience with Momo? and vendors want to chime in on whether they've seen one put onto a C6?

Thanks Guys!!

your Hurst is threaded though, did you ever try putting the Momo on your stock, unthreaded, shifter?
I went ahead and ordered the Momo Cobra CF **** this morning from shopmomo.com those guys were really nice, great customer service.....best prices I've seen, and they are going to make sure that I have my **** by tomorrow. I give them props.
Now we'll just have to see if this **** fits this funky shifter.

Got the Momo CF Cobra shift **** yesterday, and It works fine on the C6! Three screws that hold **** onto shaft. I have the same setup on my truck's shift ****. A dab of loc-tite on the threads, crank down the screws evenly and in a rotational pattern....boom....you're good to go. The **** is nice and heavy, and narrower than the stock (good for me, I have small hands....lkie a carney) I really enjoy the feel of it...you just want to hang onto it when not shifting...feels nice.

SO, in the end, go with MOMO ***** for the C6 for right now.
