Easiest solution is what I did. Take it to the dealer and have it replaced under warranty. Haven't had any problems since.
How is that easy? The dealer does not stock this part so you will have to go once for them to see it 1/2 day waisted, then go back to install it 1/2 day waisted and then be lucky enough that they did not damage or abuse it. Also you must hope it is not working when they look at it or they may not order it.
Sounds like you need a new dealer. I called mine, told him what the problem was. He ordered the part and called me when it was in. Had it in and out in about an hour.

That is the problem with GM service. The first one I took it too wanted to drill out the rivets to remove the switch which would not have worked and I could not find a dealer that knew how to remove it. Someone that went to the Cruise in stated some dealers even removed the entire rear of the car to access the switch. With it this easy to fix unless you have a very good dealer I would just fix it myself. Oh wait I did and it took me less than 15 minutes.

My 2005 vert trunk latch button works intermittently, as well. I took it to the dealer and had the latch button replaced, but the problem continues. Can someone tell me if the thread on how to fix the hatch button applies to convertibles?
My switch was not working when I picked the car up at Bowling Green. It when back to the factory for repair and "they fixed a connector". It worked after their fix but stopped working by the time I got the car home. I took it to the local chevy dealer for repair. Here is what the mechanic wrote on my repair:
2700 SOP SWITCH IN REPLACED SWITCH. REAR SWITCH OPERATION STILL INOP. OLD SWITCH CORRODED. SEARCHED BULLITENS AND FOUND DOC #1631816 BUT WAS NOT RELATED TO CUSTOMER CONCERN. TRACED CIRCUIT 1576 AND FOUND LOOSE CONNECTION P AT CONNECTOR C1. REMADE CONNECTION AND REINSTALLED REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK MODULE IN DASH CARRIER.
I use the switch everyday, and since the repair it has not worked only three times.
