Just had this happen on my Tahoe w/ DVD. Need a 42V system anymore with all the accessories getting stuck on cars, 12V is humpin' it just to pass the current..
Restricted air-flow around the alternator will inevitibly result in reduction of life of the internal components, especially the rectifier and diode trio. It's right on top, restricting the natural circulation around and up through the unit.
Old GM alternator designs had the fan behind the pulleys for forced circulation axially through the front, not so much anymore, as there are cooling vents all over the damn thing.
GM's starting to get a better, more robust design (Denso? now vs. vs. Delco's on C4's?), but it probably ain't built to handle this bling bling "retrofit"....especially with the current draw we are seeing today due to all the electrical "goodies" slapped onto a 12V system.
Remember heat, E = IxIxR....

Need a CFD model & PE to verify...
Just kidding.
To each his own.
Ed, you bringing it to Bellmore, tonight?
Just a suggestion, the Compression Ratio should be wrote as 10.9:1 not 10.9.1, sorry for being picky.
