Fuel sensor redux
In the August issues of Car and Driver and Road & Track, you can read about other makes with similar problems.
Car and Driver had a new Mustang (modified by Ford engineers) for their One Lap of America, and the guage read half full when it was bone dry. Remember, this is a car prepared by Ford folks.
The long term test Jag XJ8 at Road & Track suffered from 'erratic' fuel guage readings, never really fixed. Sound familiar?
Both of these cars have fuel systems much simpler than the C6. The problems started with the C5. As you know, the tank is actually in two halves connected with passages. Each half has its own sensor. The packaging is needed to provide reasonable fuel capacity while fitting among all the structure in that area. Trying to maximize safety and luggage space at the same time doesn't help.
So, yes, the C6 has an ongoing problem that should have been sorted out with the C5. But we aren't alone in this.
Just my thoughts.

My XJ8 ran out of fuel when the gauge was at half a tank. The fix took 10 minutes and a $75 sending unit. That was a fuel problem that many auto manufactures have complained about. The C6 problem is a design issue. A new card installed by the dealer will fix it.
BTW - I had a Lexus with the problem in the early 90s. Not just Ford and GM, only recent examples. Relentless Pursuit of Perfection just means they're not perfect.
Any help would be great.
