Default A/C Problem Started

Okay, I guess I'm just whining, but the A/C gremlin struck. I'd had a couple of times where the A/C would take a long time (30-40 seconds) before deciding to come on after the car sat for 15-20 minutes in hot weather.

But yesterday, when the temp was 115, the A/C came on only after I manually hit the Recirc button, then it only stayed on for a couple of minutes. After much fiddling and driving another 10 minutes, it finally worked properly. Of course, these things only show up when there is an 'excessive heat warning'.

I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get it checked. Thanks to all on the Forum, I know what to tell the service writer anyway.

Why don't you just hit the low pressure end A/C shrader valve and let a smidge of freon out? It's not scientific, or ecologically sound, but all they do is remove 0.3lbs of freon to fix the thing.
