Probably a stupid question, but here goes anyway. What would cause the chime to activate only occasionally when you open the driver's side door? Under the same conditions, using the same procedure to unlock, get in and start the car, the chime will go off one time but not the next. Am I missing something here, or is it another C6 electrical gremlin? Thanks for any insight.
You're sure you're doing the same thing every time? Do you have the auto tranny or a 6-spd? Maybe you're fastening the seat belt before you press the start button one time and after you press the start button the next time.
Hey Folks;
Heard the chime last week a few(3) times & couldn't understand why! 3 days later, the DBS Gremlin, battery dead!!!
Really not sure if there might be some relationship, but be careful.
LMB, MN6.

I have a 6 speed, and seatbelts aren't an issue because I'm talking about the chime that goes off the second you open the door. I'm inclined to think VET4LES is on the right track regarding the FOB: chime when it's not detected, no chime when it is. Either way, once inside the car and you're closer to whatever detects the FOB, the car will start. Sound plausible? BTW, thanks for the input guys (& gals).
I get the chime very infrequently and have chalked it up to one of the "features" of the car... It would be very hard if not impossible to duplicate the problem for the dealer and I do not think it is worth having the dealer tear into it... Just think of it as your car saying hello or goodbye to you.....

I have had the same thing happen 3 or 4 times over the last 10 months. It chimes the second you open the door (Car in reverse and eme set) and I do not think it has to do with FOB detection. On many occasions I have entered the car in my garage to do something or get something and the FOB was in the house and never had the chime go off. When the problem occures is when I have the FOB in my pocket. So if it was due to not detecting the FOB it would happen when I did not have the FOB in my pocket. Just another undocumented feature, it never caused a problem nor is there a message on the DIC and the car starts right up.
Mine has sometimes done this, too. This C6 is great and alot smarter than I am. I couldn't find anything in the owner's manual about it. Makes me feel even "stupider" than I must be. But I haven't had any problems. Maybe if it happens again, I'll check to make sure the button isn't pushed to turn the interior lights on (left side of the instruments). That's an easy button to bump by mistake. Just an idea.

This case sounds different from the rest as your car was shut down properly sometime before and you re-entered without the FOB. Who knows. Maybe some day we will find out what is causing the chimes.
