I recently purchased and installed a Corsa Sport (quad tips) exhaust. Anyone else experiencing this problem: driver's side muffler does not line up straight. The muffler tail pipes angle off. The passenger side is perfectly straight. Corsa sent me a replacement axle pipe and muffler, but this didnt correct the problem. I noticed a friend's C6 has the same problem. Corsa has been great and offerred to replace the pipe and muffler, but I wonder if it's a manufacturing issue.
If you installed a Corsa sport, tell us if you have had a similar problem and how you resolved it.
Do a search...there are several threads concerning this issue...but be prepared not to get a complete answer since some of us do not have this issue with the Corsa. I think...just my opinion... the key to the Corsa install is to snug up firmly (not tighten one and then work on the other) both clamps (mid pipe to over the axel pipe & over the axel pipe to muffler) and then work to correct position and tighten. That is what we did for the install and is totally correct for both the horizonal and vertical attitude of the tips...
Sorry about grainess but enlarged pic to zero in on pipes>>
Every so often I have to have the drivers side realigned.
It is a small price to pay for such a sweet sound.
Bottom line is, it should never be an issue and it is sometimes.
Thanks for the repsonses. I took it to a local muffler shop and I dont think they will be too kind if I ask them to do this again. I'll have to find someone who has a lift or get under the car on my own and try to fix this.
I noticed while touring the factory that the worker had a nylon jig of sorts that fit and alligned all four tips. He put this on, tightened the entire exhaust system, then removed it.
Just had B&B Bullets installed at my dealer and the guy who put them on mentioned that they were much easier to install than the Corsa because of the time it takes to align. He claimed it took 45 minutes to line up the Corsa.
Alignment problems on my last Corsas is part of the reason I didn't get them for my C6.
There were no problems aligning the Corsa's on my C5. Thought it would be smooth with the C6. Guess not! Maybe they'll fix it in time for the next model year.
