For those who want to paint the door pulls I guess it's OK as I had also considered it. Then I realized that those guys at the Corvette design studio probably had another idea in mind as they could have easily done that. The idea I realized was to eliminate finger prints on the door when opening or closing. You'll notice that many touchable surfaces such as the inside frame of the tops and window frames are texteured to eliminate prints also; and the great idea of an inside pull under the rear hatch also keeps prints off the painted surface. This too is what other high end car manufacturers do. So for me, I'll leave it alone. As for the CMSL, who knows!

Color matched door handles are available direct from GM with a GM part number as the C6 has many official factory accessories. I would not doubt they kept them black to reduce cost and also to boost profit if you want to order your own color matched ones. I work for a GM dealer and I had a GM trainer tell me specially that the third brake light and XM antenna was left flat black to reduce cost.

But the dull black third brake light had to go. I changed it out to color matched before the car left the garage.

Yes, Hoonose!
I think it serves two purposes. 1st, it provides a contrasting detail with most paint colors. 2nd, being dark, it tends to make the tailend less tall, heavy or thick. The dark lower rear valance does the same.

I agree - the vert has color match - but it's on the trunk. The coupe should have color match and smaller.
The spoiler being black reduces build costs. I believe it was something they added toward the end of the development cycle as well. If these were color key'd then they'd have to make special arrangements in assembly for them; as well as delivery to factory, painting etc.
I'm still up in the air on color match; I went with chrome door handles to set off the door entry - euro matching is like bonkers to me; straight outta compton...err, the 80's.
If GM wanted to save money, they wouldn't have put any door handles on the car. You would just grab the edge of the door - but, then the paint would get scratched and worn. So, they put on the black plastic handles which are more durable.

I know it's been said before, but I like the color matched door pulls I got on my Vette!
Hey Bob, I was happy to see your Avitar pic.
I took one very similar out on Route 66. Just a couple of sentimental fools. I have a great appreciation for the old road.
My GM trainer that comes by the dealership here told me, if you have to ask why GM did not do this or that, 95% of the time the answer is the same, cost, cost, cost.
