Default Reading Lamp Problem

The reading lamps on the rear view mirror won't go out. The switches do nothing. Has anyone had this problem?? Any ideas?? Is my battery going to be dead in the morning?? Thanks for any help.

They should time out in 20 minutes. Check the light button on the dash also. Get in the car and close the doors and push the light button on the dash just left of the steering wheel. Hope thats all it is.

Default Start the engine, then check lights

Start your engine and then use the buttons on the rear view mirror to turn off the lights. If the button on the left side of the dash isn't switched on, they should stay off after you turn off the engine and exit the car.

Mine don't. Mine stay on bright until the DRLs flash to indicate the doors have auto-locked, then they dim and go off.

It should be emphasized that the switches for the map lights themselves should be pressed in for the off position.

You probably hit the panel brightness control button, above your left knee, as you are sitting in the drivers seat. You probably accidently pushed it in with your knee, which will result in your reading/map lamps staying on, even after exiting the car and longer than the normal shut-down delay feature. Press it in again (brightness control button) and make sure you reading/map lamps are off as well. The reading/map lamp buttons should be pushed in, to turn them off.
