My friend works at a local chevy body shop. Someone brought in a new C6 vette with a scratch on the driver's side headlight lens. The owner wanted two new headlights because the scratch wouldn't "buff" out. Anyway, the dealer is installing two new "color-keyed" headlights. My friend is giving me the headlights and I may sell them on ebay. They look like they are perfect except for that one scratch or rub mark. Can anyone tell me what they may be worth?
In a warranty situation like that I do believe that the dealership is required to keep/send back the old parts, not sure you're friend will actually have access to them. Could be some nice money for you and him to share if so though.

My left front plastic light cover was hit by a small stone, I am looking for a plastic polish to buff it out. Mothers used to make one. Any suggestions.

Try Novus available at motorcycle shops. They make a #1, #2 and #3 for different polish levels. Pilots use it for small plane windows. I first used it on the rear window on my '67 Corvette hardtop and now my C6 headlights. Good luck.

Novus is also avalible at your local industrial plastic supply house. I don't recommend using #3 (heavy scratch remover) except as a last resort. It is very aggressive.
Use the #1 (shine & clean) first then the #2 (fine scratch remover) followed again using the #1.
Thanks for all of the advice. I didn't think about the fact that my buddy may have to return the headlights since it's under warranty so I may not have access to them afterall.
When I was refereing to the lights being color-keyed, it seems as though the plastic lens is permanently attached to the light bases and therefore the lense cannot be removed to have the light bases painted to match the color of your vehicle. So you would have to purchase a used/new headlight assembly that matched the color of your vehicle. Is this truly the case or does anyone know if the lense covers can be removed without damaged?

WOW! So in a front end collision, the headlights alone are going to be $2,000??? And I assume this is not including the bulbs, as they should be available separately. And it does not include labor! Damn, this may be a new record for outrageously prices components.

not a chance. you always have to check porsche parts prices before making that claim.
Wow, one of the few times my other hobbies are useful in my car world... heh, I've always got Novus handy - I have pinball machines! Novus is used to clean and polish pinball playfields, sometimes decorative plastics and mylar as well!
I'll keep that in mind WRT polishing out headlight scratches and scuffs.

Novus makes a nice plastic polish (in a series of 3) , and Plexus is well used also. I personally have used Wolfgangs Headlamp Polish on older faded headlamps with great success and would not hesitate to offer.

3M makes an excellent plastic cleaner. The part number is 39017,and the polish is PN 39010.You need them both.Use the cleaner and follow with the polish.I would suggest you buy a set of stick on plastic lens covers. They are psa backed ,go on fairly easily and you can't tell they are on once you've applied them.I put a set on my wifes MDX and you can't tell there on there.
