When the fuel sensor is replaced (to fix an erratice fuel guage), is the fuel tank removed?
I took it in to the dealer on 7/26 aand they agreed about the problem. The sensor was ordered and it arrived 8/1. The car is at the dealers this morning for the fix.
It's a bit of a high pucker factor when driving across the long, lonely California and Nevalda deserts and the fuel guage drops to 0.
no the tank does not have to come down. But the 6spd is easy compared to auto.Keep your fingers crossed,I just had mine done with the new part number, now one month later it started again.Just called the dealer bringing it back tomorrow.Good thing i am retired and the dealer is only 15min away.

Yes the tank does have to come down, since 03 the fuel module, sending unit/and pump are installed from the top of the tank, to make things even more fun the trans/diff must be removed or lowered enough to allow the 2.5" cross pipe to be disconnected, chevy pays 6.5 hours to change the fuel card, so it is not something you want to wait for. www.hpperformancecorvettes.com
My dealer took down trans and tack to replace fuel sensor. Then a few weeks later the wire to the fuel pump came loose causing a "no start" situation. Make sure they tightened that wire!!!
