Default Halltech Stinger Verification

I have GHL's and installed the Halltech Stinger today. All the dyno statistics and debates and all the banter about what it will or will not do has been answered for me. Rubber in third which NEVER happened prior is proof enough for this gearhead. That's without a tune so of course now I have to get it tuned and I plan to send it to Jim at Halltech. I had one inquiry during the Stinger install and he called back immeadiately and answered my question why take my business elsewhere?

Same with my car.I hit 3rd pretty hard compared to before install. Its good for at least a tenth in the quarter.WIth the ram air he has not the combo should be good for .2 to .25 in the quarter.

Great product and Jim seems to be a stand up guy.

I originally bought and installed the Stinger to get better performance but also to have the capability to switch back to OEM for dealer visits. Another plan shot down this Stinger is so good it's staying in full time. The combination of the GHL's and Stinger is awesome!

Doubt you'll see an actual "ram air" effect from the Halltech CAI - as most "ram air's" enclose the intake and duct (ram) directly into it. You will see increased airflow across the intake, and direct cooler air from outside the engine compartment, INTO (and through) the engine compartment.

All things being equal, I doubt you'll pick up .25 in the 1/4 from it. I don't know that a 1/4 is enough distance to actually trade out the hot air in the compartment, for cooler air. If you're an auto-x-er, or do road course racing (or just driving in general), you should see alot of benefit from decreased compartment temps, and decreased intake air temps, over the long haul.

That being said - I'm excited that I made it under the wire for the first batch of these. Only wish that Jim was able to get more parts to make these, as the copy-cats will leap on the simplicity of this mod, and surely profit from Jims hard work...

Regards,

Rick

I am NOT debateing this intake, but I can easily get "rubber" in third, and my only mod is a set of K&N filters, stock exhaust... (well, I did change the speakers...)

Rick....I dont think getting .2 to .25 in the quarter is out of the question at all with the intake/cold air combo when cooler air comes. The intake itself is good for .1 to .15

Let define getting rubber in third more sustinctly it's like comparing your first surprize woody at 11 years old versus one of those bethlehem steel quailty jobs you would get when you were 16. The rubber we are now getting in third after these mods is a noticeable functional performance contriutor versus an amusing chirping surprise

Would it be possible to leave it on for a couple of hundred miles and then dyno again?

I have heard reports of getting an initial hp gain, but the computer reverting back.

Not bashing, I just would like to know.

I haven't gotten my mods on yet (actually, the car isn't even out of the frikkin body shop yet), but next week I'm throwing on: Stinger, CAI, SuperMaxx headers w/cats, GHL exhaust. I'm gonna be driving from 'Lauderdale to Tampa to get a tune from Jeremy (coupla hundred miles, so the trims should be settled in by then). I never ran a baseline dyno, but I'll try to get a pre-tune run to compare with post-tune.

Billy - the CAI depends on the car moving to bring air into the compartment and exchange it with the hot air that's already there. Sitting (and waiting) on the line @ the 1/4 mi. is gonna get that compartment hot as hell, and I really doubt that a 1/4 mi. run is going to change the air temp enough to make a real difference in times. Maybe if you sit with the hood open before your run, so you start out with underhood temps at ambient already, you might see some improvement - but your trap speed is probably the distance/speed it's going to take, to even see an air exchange begin to take place. Either way, it's a worthy mod. I'm looking to see better performance on the road in general - I don't live my life a 1/4 mi. at a time.
