Honker or Stinger???
Basically same price, boasting nearly identical gains, Honker requires cutting of shroud & is (supposedly) a PITA to install.
Which one to buy, or is this simply splitting hairs?

Honker or Stinger
I installed the Honker on my C6. It was not real easy to install but it fits perfectly and seems to perform OK. I have not had it dynoed but feels better seat of the pants.

Cutting the shroud is a bad idea and always has been. If the Honker is a bottom-feeder forget it. Water in the engine is bad. I know this from personal experience.

Callaway has said on several occasions that water intrusion is not an issue with their CAI, and I've had mine in the rain several times with no problem. Also, why is cutting the shroud such a bad idea?
Thanks.
Thanks.

cut the shroud to get more airflow ****!
the stock airbox is a bottom breath....hence the air dam.
I like the Honker because it looks stock....looks like it belongs in the car.
Go for the Honker!!

I have said it before, I can get "rubber" in third, no problem, only mods are K&N's (well, I did change the speakers...)

Honker all the way....
Installing the Honker was a BREEZE! I don't understand all the hoopla. I simply went to a local corvette shop where it took THEM 4 hrs to install the damn thing-it didn't take me a minute. works great and you CAN feel a difference-WOW.

where can the difference be felt? from launch? rolling at 3500 rpms? where and for how long and how strong? i can chirp 3rd without the intake, so i am not entirely sure that chirping in 3rd claims are proof that there are noticeable gains.
not trying to rain on anyone's parade, because i want to be a believer, but i just have a hard time with the following:
- supposed "dyno" gains. every dyno i have been to, there are fans blowing under, over, and into the engine bay...so what exactly is the CAI doing to help the engine capture 'cooler' air in this situation, such that it is detectable on a dyno read-out?
- can you REALLY FEEL 10 hp? i drove a C6 with headers on it and it didnt feel that much different from mine sans headers. and the headers are proven +20 rwhp.
like i said, i wanna believe...but $500 is quite the leap of faith.
*shrug*
