Default Borla?

A lot of posts on Corsa, GHL, Magnaflows, Bullets, is anyone putting on the Borla system? I'm considering them, but not many posts about how they sound? Opinions?

I have Borla Sport Cat-Backs with the X-Pipe, they are definately a great sound for a C6.

There are quite a few posts about the Borlas, try searching the forum.

I am often asked to fire them up at car shows, usually sitting next to a set of Corsas. The consensus is always that the Borlas have a much nice sound.

Gotta log - the Borla site has sound clips, BTW

I have the same . Great sound ! Don't get the mild ones . They are too close to stock . You want the agressive street model . I love mine .

Love the sound, not too wild about the appearance. The tips on mine came pitted, and they're impossible to put a shine on. In case you're wondering why I didn't send them back, I didn't want to wait another two months for replacements.

Which sounds closer to the C5 Borla Stingers, the mild ones or the agressive? I loved the sound of my Stingers on my '04! (I should mention that I will pick up an new '05 on August 26th and the Borlas are the first mod I will make)

Thanks,
Chris

Borla's nomenclature is...

Sport = loud

Touring = quiet

I have a set for sale CHEAP in the for sale section. There is a video with sound that will do a comparison.

As an added note, I am traveling up I-77 to Cleveland OH this weekend (8-13). If anyone wants them and is near I-77 from Charlotte, NC to Cleveland, OH I can take them with me if you are willing to meet me on I-77.

Thanks for the reply's everyone. I want a deeper sound but not like the old glass pack's from the old days. Deep rumble would be nice. I think the Borla Cruiser series might be what I am looking for. Not too loud. Appreciate any other opinions.

I had the Borla Sports with x-pipe for about 2K mi and recently changed it out for the Touring. The sports have a great loud deep almost 60's muscle car sound. The touring with X-pipe sounds the same, only noticably quieter. If Dad's Buick is a 1 on a 10scale, the stock is a 4/10, the touring is a 5-6/10, the Sport is a 9/10 and straight through (like BB Bullits) is a 10/10 in loudness. I changed out because the sports have moderate amount of resonance over the 1500-1600rpm range that is hard to avoid with my A4 at certain speeds without manually downshifting to get out of that range. Wife didnt like the resonance or all the shifting in traffic or in the mountains so I compromised on the Touring (No resonance). The MN6 would be perfect for the sports if you want an aggressive sound as you can easily select a gear out of that range for cruising. WIth a MN6 I'd probably go for the sports again. Love the tips,too. Mine look great and polish is perfect. Pics here:

Heard Corsa & Borla side by side. Borla is deeper and louder. I have Borla Sports/Stingers with NO "X" pipe. Left the H in place cuz I'm going LG Long Tubes in a few mos.

I had severe issues with Borla when trying to replace a cracked header.
More than eight phone calls two months and then they shipped the wrong header. Just put on B&B Route 66's tonight. Fairly easy to install, quality is good sounds much better than stock.

Thanks for the posts, everyone makes very valid points, I appreciate the rating drtli. I especially liked seeing your old system after it had been on the car, looks like they discolor really fast for such an expensive stainless system.

Had several people say service was really an issue with Borla, so that also carries a lot of weight. They used to monitor this forum, so if they are reading maybe they will work on their service problems.

Default Borla

I put Borlas Sport on our C-6 while the wife was out of town and surprise - didn't tell her. Wanted to see her reaction. When she got back and we went out to dinner, I fired it up and the first thing she said was - wow that sounds like a Vette

Be advised your previouosy "quiet" interior will be noiser.

People upon hearing the Borlas comment on the sound!

Also, they are guaranteed for (I think) one million miles! Anyway longet then I'll own the car!
