Default Easy Exit Sequence with Keyless Start vs. C5

I don't have my '06 yet, so I've been doing some reading in the Owner's Manual posted online.

I noticed that the easy exit feature only moves the seat after the door is opened (i.e. door latch mechanism is released), or if you press the exit position switch on the memory pad.

On the C5, the seat and telescoping wheel started to "retract" once the key was pulled. I liked that. I'm a big guy and need the space.

The opening of the door seems "late" in the sequence to me. What if it is raining? Guess you just gotta move your butt outta there, or press the easy exit button itself, huh?

In that case it's an extra step that wasn't required on the C5 is all.

Yes, but wih the C5 after you pull the key you have to keep it in your hand until you exit and are standing upright. Then you had to carry it in the house or remember to put it in your pocket.

With the C6 you just get out because the fob is already in your pocket. It leaves both hands free and since the fob never leaves the pocket there is no looking for the keys next time you leave.

Maybe you've just got too much other stuff in your pocket. I've only had the problem one time with 7,000 miles total on my C6s.

Not sure about an auto car...but for a stick the easy exit can be had two ways, 1) open the door, 2) press the manual button on the drivers door located between #1 & #2 memory buttons. However in both cases the hand brake must be on, as I rarely actually set the hand brake I just lift it to the first "click", that's all it takes, no big deal.

If you lift it to the first click, why not all the way? Only good can come from the brake being on, and it seems to me that if you only click it once, there is a higher probability for leaving it on.

when i open my door to get out..by the time im ready to step out of the car the seat is retracted and the steering wheel is out of the way....i love this car..all the talk about the reverse shift and all the trouble it is getting in and out...i don't see any problems...most of the time putting the car in reverse speeds up my backing out of my garage...i don't have to put the car in reverse it's allready there... ..just my opinion..Mike

Old habits die hard....I only use it on a hill/slope as a rule. I often park after spirited driving, and you do know applying the hand brake to hot rotors can warp them? To each his own...JMHO.

The C5 had a key, removing it was the extra step. In the C6, just hitting the door open button gets the wheel and seat moving. It moves back pretty quick. If it is raining, wait a moment before throwing the door all the way open.

The real annoyance with exiting the C6 in the rain, or just lowering the window at a drive-thru, is that it will pee a stream of water on your left thigh where the top meets the windshield frame. That join forms a little dam that diverts water to come off the top right at that point. There's no way to avoid that short of fitting rain gutters.
