This is a fairly new product from Griot's Garage. Has anyone tried this, or something similar? Success? I'm mainly talking about those known areas where sand blasting takes place.
It looks similar to the Cleartasic product offered by MidAmerica and others. I tried the Cleartastic and didn't like it. It's hard to eliminate the bubbles, which are unsightly. I decided to install splash guards instead.
hey star, i have had sucess with using x-pel film made by 3m. go to the x-pel website and look for your local dealer-installer. they make a kit that a professional installer uses. it is guarnteed not to peel, yellow or cause any discoloration to the paint. plus, you can remove it with a hairdryer later when you sell your car. paint will look like new. i got it behind every wheelwell, the mirrors, and the complete nose of car. it is worth the expense not to have to worry about it. is is x-pensive but so was the car. cranky

I tried to use the Groit's stuff and sent it back. Has an adhesive backing and is very thick, making application a nightmare. Had some success with Cleartastic and, if applied carefully according to instructions, bubbles will all come out. I've not had anyone even notice it on the car until I point it out. I have lost some panels when left too long without resealing (should do periodically). The panels used to protect the inside edges of the painted wheel well are useless (they overlap the side panels and will never be smooth, but the ones for protecting flat sides behind front wheels and in front of rear wheels work well. A fellow club member uses the X-Pel applied professionally (ka-ching!), but it works and look great.

I had the whole package installed on my car the day after I brought her home and it's fantastic. It includes coverage behind all 4 wheelwells. I wouldn't consider a new car without it.
