Has anyone even proved that the C6 is faster than the C5
Anyone seen them run...stock with the same tranny type on the same track the same day to see if the C-6 is faster than the C-5 (non-Z06). I see numbers for both in magazines that overlap. I saw a C-5 convertable that car and driver had listed at 110 trap in the quarter. Thanks!

Nope, never been proven. All the more reason for you to buy a C5 if you don't already have one. Or keep your present C5 if you already have one and simply mod it.
And if the magazine numbers overlap, then whats the point in actually running a stock C5 against a stock C6?

BTW, I believe JShindler ran 12.4s in his bone stock C6. But never managed to run 12.4s when his C5s were bone stock. But since he did not do this on the same day, that does not count for much either

The cars are close. But the overlap thing is nothing new and we saw the same thing with the people comparing LT4 C4's to C5's . You can take the fastest C5 times and compare them to the slowest C6 times and claim the C5 is faster which is . On average, the C6 is faster and the trap speeds reported prove it: plus 3 to 4 mph seems to be fairly typical. I've driven three C6's and you couldn't ask for a better mix :
a Z51 MN6
a non Z51 MN6
a Z51 A4
They were all faster than my C5 (well the A4 felt different - so it's hard to compare that one but it pulled like a bitch on the 60 mph full throttle downshift). And my C5 ran 12.91 @ 111.25 and dyno'd at 330 RWHP and 342 RWTQ.

Since the LT4 is every bit as quick as the C5, and the C6 has never been proven to be faster than the C5, then it follows that his LT4 should be every bit as quick in the quarter as a C6.

Kinda reminds me of football:
if we beat Texas Tech, and Texas Tech beat O.U., then how come O.U. kicked our asses so bad ???

I have personal experience that confirms the C6 handily outruns the late model C5...and very gracefully accomplishes the task....no prob.

This is getting so pathetic! Every time a new generation comes out the previous generation's owners just can't let go! It's called technological advancement people! Like it or not the new vette is better! Long Vs shorter; Glossy Vs matte finished leather; bigger tires; bigger wheels; more HP; More Torque; less weight; better quiter top (verts); better seats; better lights; cheaper price;greater g-force; better traction; easier to get in and out of; A real Z51 package (not just shocks) -blah-blah-blah. Wake up and smell the roses! I am sorry things get better - move on and stop bashing the new vette!

Who cares. Take a couple of bucks and do some mods. You can make your own Vette as fast as your little heart desires

I've raced my C5 many times and my C6 at least a dozen times, several times against other C5's (at the same track, same time, same conditions). On average, the C6 is .3 to .4 seconds faster and 3-4 MPH faster in the 1/4 racing M6 against M6.

Every generation Corvette is better than the previous one, technology is moving forward and so is the car. I don't think which is faster is what counts here, rather how the car behaves overall, and I believe the C6's road manners are better. What ever you're driving C5 or C6, just enjoy the ride

I edged out a C5 Z06. I emphasize edge and it could have been driving abilities, I dont know how good of a driver the guy is, i don't know him very well.
I have a 6 speed coupe w / z51
We ran from 0 to about 120 on the 52 freeway late at night last week.
