Just got back from watching my Jewel Red Coupe Being Built
Kevin gave me a tour of the factory and I even got to drive her off the line. It was great. Oh, Jewel Red is what the factory calls Monterrey Red, I don't know why. Lots of Z06's coming down the line, maybe every seventh car or so. Also saw old number 2 go into the booth where they run the cars up to speed (about 70 mph) right after my car. Old Number 2 is the second C6 built, they still use it for testing apparently. It is the white car with the black wheels in the next to last pic on my page. Kevin is a great guy, I'm glad I got the opportunity to see everything there firsthand. Now the hard part, its two weeks before my museum delivery

FANTASTIC!
Thanks for posting! Those who didn't see the metalflake in MR Red can see it in your door, even with the plastic on it.
What a great experience you must have had!

WOW!! BEAUTIFUL!!!
You got the colors in your photos that I couldn't seem to get in mine. Just got my MR coupe Thurs. It doesn't seem like anyone has captured the exact color till you did. Perfect!!
Lotsa luck, and to the couple of guys who suggested they took the mag red and put some dirt in it, well these pics will show 'em!!!!

Wow, that's some pretty cool stuff! Thanks for posting. Just think - you're long wait is almost over.
Just wondering, were you able to get any pictures of Kevin? It would be nice to be able to put a face with his name and voice.

No pics of Kevin. In fact, cameras aren't allowed in the factory. Kevin carries his factory approved camera and takes the pictures, so thats why no pics of him. I guess its a factory approved camera because its low res.

P.S. The camera is a "factory approved" camera because it is under the control of a factory representative at all times (that's why Kevin is not in the pictures), and who knows what sensitive images they do not want recorded and distributed to knowledgeable competitors outside of the plant.

That makes sense, there are a lot of places in the factory that you don't get to go. I didn't get to see the painting area, the chassis being welded, or much of the power train being assembled. I guess the higher tech areas perhaps the ones where the robots are would be more secretive. Doesn't matter though, great tour. Recommend it to anyone.

That's why the metalflake is hard to see it in photographs. Magnetic Red was the same way...I couldn't see the metalflake until I was maybe four to five feet away in bright sunlight.

Congrats!!
Congratulations on being able to be a part of the birth of your new vette. Kevin is a wonderful host, and I hope the higher-up's know what a valuable asset they have in him. I was there for my roll-off on 8/10 and am still waiting for delivery to my dealer.

Kevin said that the white and black car in the next to last photo on my web page was the second C6 built, and that it had been in some of the spy photos we saw of the C6 early last year. He said the first C6 built is in Detroit. I wasn't real clear on what they use it for. He said calibrations. Maybe that means fine tuning fit and finish or computer settings, I don't know. He did say that when they are done with it, it will go to the Corvette Museum. I just thought it was kind of cool to see them driving it around in the factory, and putting it into the dynamic vehicle test booth behind my car, so I had him snap a picture of it. I looked at the VIN tag on the car and thought I would see #00002 or something, but it was a jumbled bunch of numbers ending in EX. Good C6 trivia.
