I dropped by my local dealer to check out 2 '05's that are there. The first is a Blk/Ebony Coupe/Z51/1SB/chrome wheels, the second was Victory Red/Ebony/1SB/Transparent roof/Polished wheels.
I was curious on the release of the '06's soon how the pricing would be set up.
The upcharge for the Chrome wheels was $2,995 on the Black car.
Both cars had a "Market Based Pricing" line item.
$10,000!
I would have thought those days were over. Are the '05's that hard to come by that they can still get that.
The dealership moves the Vettes I go in regularly just to look at the new arrivals.
Maybe they just use it as a way for a guy/gal to negotiate down and feel like they got a deal.

that's basically an indication of the competition you're up against. folks in that neighborhood are willing too pay that much more or they wouldn't be moving.

wait.. wait.. you get to negotiate on a vette, oh man, i blew it. paid msrp. uuurrrgghhhhh....
Dealerships will charge whatever they think the market will pay. Many times they discount their cars, on rare occassions they charge over MSRP. Back in December 2004 the Dealer near me tried to charge $10K over sticker, but got no takers. So he was offering discounts before the month was over. What the market will pay will of course vary by area. It appears that you are in an area where the demand for C6s is high.
Check out EVS vette, one of the sponsors. They have $4000 off in stock and they do deliver. I drove mine home from there but I live in the state next door, so not much of a drive.
If people will pay higher prices at the dealer and he's moving them out, then it will be harder to get a great deal.Always better off looking around at other dealers.

i found a dealer like that in my area, but i drove 20 minutes to another local dealer and found he was selling them at sticker without any kind of mark-up. the best part was, that even after i went and told the dealer that you could buy vette's down the street for $10k less than he was charging...he still maintained his "market premium". idiot.

Not necessarily.
For all you know, all those buyers said "lose the ADM or I walk" and the dealership immediately dropped it.

I don't know what sort of Corvette dealer saturation you have where you are, but added dealer mark-up is not necessarily a sign of heavy buyer demand and small dealer inventory. In South Florida, there are nearly as many Corvette dealers as there are nursing homes, but some dealers still stick their added mark-up to the sheet, probably in hopes they will reel in a novice. Don't let the dealer set the table. Deal around or up from your base, do not deal down from the dealer's price. If you start dealing from the dealer's price, you will be a goner.
The Florida market is bad with these type of 'markups'. Just decide what you want to pay and make the offer. I bought my 05 in november last year for 2400 below MSRP.
See Monica at Maxie Price in Atlanta. If she doesn't have one like you want she could order and have it drop shiped to a dealer near you without the BS of dealer market adjusment.
